I’m behind in posting as usual. This fall we, at McPhee Scotties, were privileged enough to host not one, but two Scottiepaloozas. As you may know this is a yearly gathering where I invite all of the folks who own one of our puppies to gather together for a bit with the dogs to socialize and for me to see how my breeding program is working out and how the puppies are doing. It is so much fun!

We did the first Scottiepalooza at our house and had a lovely gathering. We then hosted our first Scottiepalooza North on the weekend of the National scottie show in Macungie PA at the show site. The Scottish Terrier Club of America, STCA, was kind enough to allow us to use the Scottie hospitality tent and four expen’s connected together on Saturday, when the show site was pretty much empty. We were able to see 4 of our pups who live in PA and are just too far to come to Scottiepalooza for the day. I was so touched that at Scottiepalooza North, we had a pup from the last four girls I have bred, including Dexter, a 12 year old boy from my Tallie❤️. It was so special to see her boy, since she was the last dog that crossed the RBB.
I hope to repeat the Scottiepalooza North on a yearly or at least semi- annual basis.

We are looking for a new home for 8 year old Iris. Her mom passed away and thankfully she's in the safe hands of her children. However, they have 2 other dogs and although they've tried so hard to make it work out so they could keep their mother's dog, it just isn't working. Iris loves people but is used to being an only dog and is really unhappy living with the others. They feel it's unfair to her to force it. She was a great companion to her older mom in a quieter home, and so now we're looking for a situation for her that's similar.
Iris is still playful like a puppy and a cute girl. She's 26 pounds, black, spayed, vaccinated and in good health. She recently had a test for dry eye, and her tear production has gotten on the lower side, so she was prescribed daily eye drops to keep them healthy and comfortable. She takes no other medications. Iris is a happy girl and very easy to live with. She was taken very good care of and always loved and it shows in her personality and behavior.
She is accustomed to a fenced yard but also walks well on a leash. Her current location is in PA and we're looking for her to be placed in the Northeast to Middle Atlantic.
If you're looking to adopt an adult Scottie and don't have another dog in your home, don't pass Iris by!!

Update: she has owners!
California Litter update: As I might have mentioned two of the boys have been placed in wonderful homes and are thriving.

After keeping the remaining two for a few weeks, Leslie has made the decision to place the girl. Here is Leslie’s description of her:

California Litter update:

This is the last week for the California litter to be together on Sunday, two of the boys are going to their homes! Leslie has decided to keep a boy and the girl out of the litter and see how they develop. She really wants this litter to stay in CA. We will see.

In the meantime, Lola, the Mom, insists that she be allowed to get in the pen at least once a day to play with the pups. You can see just how much she loves them, by the care that she takes of them. It warms my heart to watch (and yes I know she shows her teeth and looks like she is going to eat them, but you can see that the puppies love playing with her and keep coming back!

California Litter Update Week 11:

They have had a long day. Lots of play time at the park. Lots of good chew toys that taste like chicken. Clean pen.

All in all - a good start to week 11 outside the womb!

California Pup Update: it’s a rough life being a puppy

Today the pups got their pen thoroughly cleaned and freshened up. While Grandma was working on that project INSIDE they sat in the playpen OUTSIDE. They loved it - barked at birds, chased a leaf or two, tried to eat a dead Zuchini branch….after that? Second Breakfast (first breakfast for the canine hobbits is at 5am). Now? Sacked out like a bunch of ranch hands after a cattle drive.
