🐾 PET PARENT PSA: KNOW BEFORE YOU GROOM 🐾

When choosing someone to groom or care for your dog in Colorado, please don’t be afraid to ask an important question:

“Are you currently licensed through PACFA?”

Colorado grooming facilities are subject to licensing and animal-care requirements through PACFA (Pet Animal Care and Facilities Act). This isn’t just something that applies to large grooming salons. Operating from a home does not automatically exempt someone from the laws and requirements that apply to pet-care facilities.

Licensing is more than simply paying a fee. Regulations exist to establish standards surrounding things like sanitation, safe housing and handling, facility conditions, recordkeeping, and the overall care of animals while they are away from their owners.

There are many talented groomers working in all types of settings—including home-based businesses—but as a pet owner, you have every right to ask questions before leaving your dog in someone else’s care.

🐶 Ask whether the facility is PACFA licensed.
🐶 Ask where your pet will be kept before and after grooming.
🐶 Look at the cleanliness and condition of the facility.
🐶 Ask about sanitation and safety procedures.
🐶 Pay attention if you’re discouraged from seeing where the animals are housed or groomed.

A lower price or convenient appointment isn’t worth overlooking your pet’s safety.

Know who you are trusting. Ask questions. Choose responsibly. Your dog depends on you. ❤️🐾

Many people don’t realize what goes into the cost of professional grooming.

The price isn’t just for the time your dog is on the table. Groomers are paying for high-quality shampoos and conditioners, which have increased significantly in price, clipper blade sharpening and equipment maintenance, replacement blades, scissors, dryers, grooming tables, utilities, insurance, rent, continuing education, and in Colorado, annual PACFA licensing and inspections through the Department of Agriculture, which cost licensed businesses hundreds of dollars each year.

On top of that, every dog requires individual care, patience, skill, and safety. We work with sharp tools around moving animals and are constantly investing in training and equipment to provide the best possible experience.

Professional grooming is much more than “a bath and a haircut.” You’re paying for experience, safety, quality products, and the care your pet receives from start to finish.

We understand that grooming is an investment, and we truly appreciate every client who trusts us with their furry family members. ❤️
