Chicken is the kind of mare that truly offers the best of both worldsโa proven, talented show horse with the mind, versatility, and disposition to be an exceptional family partner. This 2018 AQHA registered grey mare, Chex Thischics Steps, stands 14.3 hands and has the talent and training to compete while remaining incredibly user-friendly and enjoyable for riders of all levels.
A trained reiner and AQHA and NRHA money earner, Chicken has been successfully shown in the reining arena as well as the Novice Ranch classes and Short Stirrup, proving her ability to adapt to different events and different riders. She stays exceptionally broke, has a huge, honest stop, and an impressive turnaround that showcases the athletic ability and training behind her.
PEDIGREE: Chicken is backed by proven reining bloodlines. She is by NU Steps To Cash, a money-earner by legendary sire Wimpys Little Step, and out of SmoknSmart Chocolate, an accomplished mare with $16,101 in earnings and 76 AQHA points. Her dam is by Doc Chex My Smoke, a Superior Reining mare with 210 AQHA points. This is a pedigree rich in proven performance, with the Wimpys Little Step, Nu Chex To Cash, Chocolate Chic Olena, and Doc Bar/Chex influence behind her.
But Chickenโs talents certainly donโt stop at the show pen. She has been extensively trail ridden through the busy streets of Northern California all the way to the rough, rocky mountains of Arizona. She has the real-world experience and confidence to take whatever the trail throws her way while remaining a pleasure to ride.
Chicken is also very talented in the roping pen. Her exceptional training and brokenness carry over beautifully to the roping side, giving her the versatility to step from the show pen into a completely different environment without missing a beat.
What makes Chicken especially special is her user-friendly disposition. She is talented enough for a competitive rider but remains kind, willing, and broke enough to be enjoyed by riders with less experience. She is the type of mare that can be a competitive show partner one day and a trusted family horse the next.
Whether youโre looking for your next competitive show horse, ranch versatility partner, roping horse, or simply an exceptional family horse, Chicken has the talent, experience, and disposition to fill the role.
Very special mares like Chicken donโt come along often. She is the complete packageโa proven athlete, exceptionally broke, incredibly versatile, and genuinely enjoyable to ride. Give her a special home, and Chicken will give you everything she has.
