Our mission is to help educate the public about the importance of wildlife and wild places through our unique Wildlife Connection Encounters. Sunset Wildlife Connection is a non-profit 501(c)(3) exotic animal rescue and community outreach program. Wild places, the environment, and animals are struggling to survive in the wild due to human impacts and climate change. Each animal in our environment

is important and we are here to teach you why and what you can do to help wildlife around the world. Through our wildlife encounters, our goal is to share our passion for wildlife and conservation with you in hopes that you will want to also conserve our planet and the amazing animals on it.

Speckled kingsnakes are native to the United States and live in Northern Alabama, Tennessee, the Carolina’s, and the surrounding areas. Just like all snakes, Kingsnakes are very important to the environment and even eat other snakes including venomous ones! 😱

We sell our paintings and they make great, unique holiday gifts. Message us to learn more! 🖼️

This has been one of the hardest years of loss and grief at the rescue. Some were old, some had health issues, and some were tragic and unexpected.

Though this is a part of animal rescue, it honestly never gets easier. The loss is real and grief is deep in the soul. Animal rescue is an amazing and beautiful career, but the loss is one of the hardest parts. The pain is unbearable some days.

I remember vividly (and probably always will) when Margarita the macaw seized and passed in my arms while I cradled her, I looked up at my husband through my tears and said, “I don’t know if I’m strong enough to keep doing this.”

But the moment passed. My strength came back, and I continue to push on. Through pain comes love and joy from the beautiful animals we rescue. My passion for conservation and education pushes me to continue to rescue these animals and teach about them in order to save their home environments and wild counterparts.

Animal rescue is painful, which is why it is not for everyone. But man is it beautiful. I cherish each moment I had to care for, educate about, and love each animal. I do not take my job and mission for granted.

Thank you to everyone who has followed my journey this year and supported us through the love and the loss. Hoping for a better and greater 2026!
