A Special Announcement from Liberty Paws Grooming!

Our sweet baby boy has officially arrived!

Easton made his grand entrance on October 24th at 2:18 AM, deciding to surprise us a whole week early! We are so incredibly thankful to have a happy, healthy little boy!

While Easton is doing wonderful, delivery was a little rough on me, and I am needing some extra time to rest, recover, and heal. We are also taking this time to adjust to our new life as a family of three!

With that being said, Liberty Paws Grooming will remain closed until after Christmas.

I sincerely apologize if I am slower than usual to respond to messages or texts during this time. My main focus right now is healing, taking care of myself, and soaking up all these precious newborn moments. I promise I will get back to everyone as soon as I am able!

I want to thank all of my wonderful clients for their patience, understanding, and support throughout my pregnancy and now during my maternity leave. I truly appreciate each and every one of you!

I can’t wait to see all my furry friends again when I return!

4 years of Liberty Paws Grooming!

I guess time really does fly when you get to spend your days grooming some pretty amazing dogs.

I truly wouldn’t be here without all of my wonderful clients who continue to trust me with their furry family members. I’m so incredibly thankful for each and every one of you and your continued support over the last four years!

Just wanted to share a little grooming win from today.

I’ve been grooming this sweet senior girl for almost a year now, and when she first started coming to me, she had to be muzzled for almost her entire groom. She was definitely NOT a happy camper when it came to grooming.

Over the last year, I’ve just taken my time with her and slowly learned what she likes, what she doesn’t like, and what makes her uncomfortable. She also has some skin problems, so sometimes grooming just doesn’t feel the best for her.

But today we made it through her whole groom without needing the muzzle! I still always use caution and listen to what she’s telling me, but she seemed so much happier and more comfortable today. She was even perkier and just seemed like a completely different dog compared to when we first started.

It’s honestly so cool to see that trust build over time.

Not every dog is the same when it comes to grooming. Some just need a little extra time, patience, or a completely different way of handling them especially our senior pups.

I’m just really proud of this girl and how far she’s come.

🇺🇸 25 Years Later — We Will Never Forget 🇺🇸

It’s hard to believe that 25 years have passed since September 11, 2001.

Today, we remember the lives that were lost, the families whose lives were forever changed, and the incredible bravery of the firefighters, police officers, first responders, military members, medical personnel, and everyday people who ran toward danger to help complete strangers.

And as an animal lover, I also want to remember the incredible search and rescue dogs and other working animals who searched through the rubble alongside their handlers, helping to find and bring comfort to those in need.

In the days and weeks that followed 9/11, our country came together. We helped our neighbors, supported strangers, flew our flag proudly, and stood united as Americans.

25 years later, may we never forget those we lost, those who served, and the heroes both two legged and four legged who gave everything they had to help others.

We will never forget. 9/11/2001 🇺🇸

I have to give a HUGE shout-out to Gratefully Baked right here in St. Germain!

I’ve gotten their cinnamon rolls twice now, along with cookies and doughnuts, and oh my goodness… everything has been absolutely delicious! 🤤 Those cinnamon rolls especially are SO good!

If you haven’t checked out Gratefully Baked yet, definitely give them a try! You won’t regret it.

Happy National Dog Day!

Today is all about celebrating the amazing dogs who make our lives so much happier!

I’m incredibly thankful for every one of my wonderful dog clients at Liberty Paws Grooming. From the wiggle butts, drama queens, nervous Nellies, seniors, puppies, and all the sweet faces in between.

Thank you for trusting me to care for such an important member of your family. I truly love getting to know each pup and watching so many of them grow over the years!

I am a pet groomer.
Not a behaviourist, not a trainer, not a Veterinarian.

I think sometimes we need to remember where a groomer’s responsibility ends and an owner’s begins. Groomers seem to be one of the only pet professionals who are routinely expected to train an animal to tolerate the service while simultaneously providing the service.

If your dog is terrified of the vet, we don’t expect the Veterinarian to spend every appointment training your dog to accept being examined. We work with a trainer, learn the appropriate techniques, and then we, as owners, put in the work between appointments. My own German Shepherd doesn’t like being handled by strangers at the Vet. So I’m taking her to training. The trainer is giving me the tools to help her become comfortable with handling, but ultimately it’s my responsibility to practice those skills with her. It is not my Veterinarian’s responsibility to train my dog during her appointment.

Grooming should be treated the same way. A good groomer can absolutely work patiently, use appropriate handling techniques, recognize stress signals, make accommodations, and help create positive experiences, but we cannot undo months or years of fear, lack of exposure, or behavioural issues during a grooming appointment while also trying to safely complete the groom.

Desensitization happens through consistent, repeated work, not once every 6-8 weeks on the grooming table. Your groomer can be part of the team, and your trainer can give you the tools, but at the end of the day training and preparing your pet for the world is the owner’s responsibility.

As my pregnancy progresses, I wanted to share a quick update with all of my wonderful clients.

After talking with my doctor, I’ve been advised to begin cutting back on grooming larger, more physically demanding dogs, as well as some senior or difficult-to-stand dogs and nail trim appointments. This is simply for the safety of both myself and my baby, and to make sure I can continue grooming safely for as long as possible.

I know a few clients have been disappointed to hear that I’ve had to refer them to another groomer, and I completely understand. Please know this is not because I no longer want you as clients, and it has absolutely nothing to do with you or your dogs personally. This is only a temporary adjustment while I finish my pregnancy and recover after welcoming our little boy.

My goal is to return to my normal grooming schedule in 2027, and I truly hope to welcome many of you back then.

I’ve also been receiving quite a few messages asking to book for 2027. Just like I’ve done every year since opening Liberty Paws Grooming, I won’t be opening my next year’s schedule until October or November. With maternity leave and adjusting to life with a newborn, I need a little time before finalizing my schedule for next year. Once my 2027 books are open, I’ll be sure to make an announcement on this page.
