Max came to see us after breaking a tooth while chewing on an antler 🦷🐾
While antlers, bones, and other very hard chews may seem like a great way to keep dogs busy, they can sometimes lead to painful tooth fractures that require veterinary treatment. A good rule of thumb: if you can’t make an indent in it with your fingernail, it may be too hard for your dog’s teeth.
Thankfully, Max was a very brave boy during his visit and is on the road to feeling better! 💙🐾🩵
Looking for safer chew options? We recommend products approved by the Veterinary Oral Health Council ( ) to help support dental health while being gentler on teeth.
If you notice your pet pawing at their mouth, drooling, chewing differently, or avoiding hard food or treats, it may be time for a dental exam.
