Firestorm Goldens As a small in-home breeder of Golden Retrievers, we strive to preserve the health, temperament, and structure of the breed.

We promote producing dogs that can be all-around dogs, from hunting to performance to therapy or service work. We believe in breeding to better the breed. Our goal with our breeding program is to breed golden retrievers that fit the original standard. Our dogs are always fully health tested before breeding, we prefer that they have several titles as well. All of our dogs are AKC registered and have K9data profiles. We enjoy spending time hunting and doing sports with our dogs. Feel free to send us a message for any inquiries or questions.

Couldn't say it better!

“Why can’t I have total control and pick my own puppy?”

Because choosing a puppy is about a whole lot more than which one catches your eye, runs up to you first, or crawls into your lap during a 10 minute visit at 8 weeks old. 🤷🏻‍♀️

I know this might be an unpopular opinion, but I will never understand why people think they should have complete control over puppy selection when they are purchasing a dog from someone who has dedicated their life to raising, evaluating, and understanding these animals and they are trying to make a 10 year commitment based on a 10 minute interaction with a puppy in a playpen.

I am the one who spends 24/7 with these puppies. I am the one who observes their personalities, their temperaments, their confidence, their drives, their resilience, their social interactions, and the little nuances in their behavior that most people would never even notice. I am the one who has raised numerous litters, produced working dogs, and trained countless dogs across different disciplines and lifestyles.

The puppy that seems the sweetest during a short visit isn’t necessarily the one whose temperament, energy level, drives, or overall personality will best complement your lifestyle.

There is SO much more that goes into choosing the right puppy than what you see during a brief interaction.

Do you have children? Other animals? What does your daily life look like? What are your expectations for this dog? Do you want a sport prospect, a working dog, an active companion, or a family dog? How much experience do you have? What kind of temperament will thrive in your environment? What traits will complement your lifestyle, and what traits might create challenges down the road?

These are the things I have to consider. These are the questions I have to ask. These are the details I have to evaluate when deciding which puppy is most likely to succeed in a particular home.

Because I am not just matching you with a puppy you think has the cutest ears. I am matching a puppy with a home where it has the best opportunity to thrive.

My job isn’t simply to sell you a puppy and send you on your way. My responsibility is to the dogs I’ve brought into this world, and that means making thoughtful, informed decisions about where they go and which homes they are placed in.

I take temperament testing and puppy evaluations seriously because I want these dogs to succeed. I want my puppies to grow into dogs their owners can enjoy, train, live with, and be proud of for years to come. I want to make placements that make sense beyond the excitement of bringing home a cute puppy.

Can you develop a preference for a particular puppy? Absolutely. I’m happy to hear what you like, what you’re looking for, and what you’re hoping to get out of your dog. Your input matters, and your goals are an important part of the process.

But there is a difference between having input and expecting complete control over the selection process.

You bring me your lifestyle, your expectations, and your goals. I bring you my experience, my observations, and my understanding of the puppies. Together, we make the best possible match.

If you’re looking for a breeder who will let you walk into a litter, pick whichever puppy you find the cutest, and hand it over without considering whether it’s actually the right fit for you, I may not be the breeder for you.

And that’s okay!

But if you’re looking for a breeder who puts thought, experience, and intention into every placement, who knows their puppies as individuals, and who genuinely cares about setting both the puppy and the owner up for success, then trust the process.

You are trusting me to bring a dog into your life that you may spend the next 10–15 years with. Please understand that I take that responsibility seriously.

And before anyone takes this to mean that every match will be absolutely perfect, let’s be realistic. Dogs are living, developing individuals, and sometimes they mature a little differently than we anticipated. A puppy’s temperament and personality can evolve as they grow, and occasionally, a dog may develop traits that weren’t apparent during early evaluations. No breeder, no matter how experienced, can predict every single aspect of how a puppy will mature. And realistically, you wouldn’t have been able to predict those changes yourself by spending 10 minutes with an 8-week-old puppy, either.

That said, my success rate with puppy placements is very high. I’ve had only a couple of dogs that simply didn’t work out as expected, and I think that speaks for itself. I don’t claim to be perfect, and I don’t claim to have a crystal ball. What I do claim is that I put a tremendous amount of thought, experience, and effort into making the best possible matches for my puppies and their families.

The goal isn’t to guarantee that nothing will ever go differently than expected. The goal is to make the most informed decision possible from the start, rather than choosing a puppy based on a brief interaction and hoping for the best.

Okay, rant over. 🤪

The puppies have all officially gone to their new homes! We were so sad to see them go but are beyond excited to see where each of their new journeys take them.

In reverse order:

Braviary is now Evangeline. She is living in Illinois and will be trained as a diabetic alert dog! We are so happy for her and her new owners, and hope that she can help change their lives.

Axew is now Maverick. He is living in Texas and will enjoy ranch life, hunting, exploring, and dabbling in sports. Maverick also has great temperament to train as a therapy dog.

Boltund is now Benelli. She is living in Wisconsin and will be a fantastic bird and water dog as well as a faithful companion who may dabble in sports and 4-H. She has kids and other pets to run around with.

Gible is now Bogey. He is living in Minnesota. He will be a wonderful active pet and is a great candidate for therapy work.

Sprigatito is now Jolteon. She will be staying right here! She is our keeper pup. She is going to enjoy hunting, sports, and of course our busy family life.

Veluza is now Maya. She is living in North Carolina and is going to be a great active companion! She is going to enjoy exploring the world with her new best friend.

Quilava is now Scout. She is living in Minnesota and may dabble in hunting, 4-H, and farm dog activities. She has kids and other pets to run around with.

Terapagos is now Palmer. She is living in Minnesota and will be a fantastic active pet who may enjoy dabbling in sports. She was the runt and has already caught up to the all of the other pups in the litter.

Torchic is now Torshi. She is living in Maine and will be a wonderful active pet who may enjoy dabbling in sports and is a fantastic candidate for therapy work. She is going to enjoy exploring beaches, swimming, and all of the dog friendly patios.

Vivillon is now Ruby. She is living in Minnesota and will be a fantastic active pet who is going to love swimming, 4-H, and exploring. She has kids and other pets to run around with.

We adored this entire litter and it was so hard to pick a keeper. We are so proud of each one of them. They are all going to be special little pups!

---

We unfortunately did miss taking a few of their go home photos but don't worry we will be posting lots of updates as they grow! And the fall photos were taken after 3 of the pups had gone home.

Meet Sprigatito! 🌱

She is the busiest and loudest puppy in this litter. If she's hungry, if she's tired, if she's playing, chances are Sprig is barking. She likes to let you know what's on her mind. She's very active, loves playing and is obsessed with food. Sprig has high energy and high drive for food, toys, people, you name it! Once she is physically and mentally enriched, Sprig does have a fantastic off-switch and loves to cuddle. Sprigatito is one of our darkest puppies and should grow up to weigh an estimated 55-60 lbs.

Sprigatito has been temperament tested as a performance prospect. She would be ideal in a home interested in training and competing in performance events. With her high energy, eagerness to engage with people, and bouncy personality she should excel in sports such as agility, disc, flyball, dock diving, rally, etc.

Her temperament tester said:
"Sprigatito is hilarious, and engaged in exploring her environment. She is so adorable and an absolute gem. She would be fantastic for someone who wants to have a solid performance dog, ready to enjoy training with their new partner."

*Update*
We have decided that Sprigatito is staying right here! She has wormed her way into our hearts. We will formally introduce her soon.

Axew is still looking for his perfect home! 🐾

Axew is a very affectionate puppy who loves to learn! He has been introduced to bird wings and has shown a great aptitude for hunting. Axew has moderate energy and higher drive. He is the type of dog that enjoys being in your pocket and knowing what you are up to. If he's not with you, he's cuddled up in a pile of puppies. He loves being active as well as having down time. He will be a wonderful partner in the field, as well as a great companion in your home. Axew should grow up to have a moderate golden coat and weigh an estimated 65-70 lbs.

Axew has been temperament tested as a performance and hunting prospect. His ideal home would be interested in doing hunt tests and/or field trials and dabbling in sports like dock diving, fastcat, rally, agility, etc.

His temperament tester said:
"Axew is a fantastic, sweet boy who will make anyone look like the teacher's pet for classes. He engages with people quickly and recovered from stressors rapidly. Axew would thrive with a job. He would be a good option for a 4H family with kids, and enjoys giving affection.

If you are wanting to send specifically a male for hunting, Axew (camo) is who I would recommend. "

Axew is only available to a hunting/performance home and he will stay with us until we find his perfect match. If Axew sounds like he could be a great fit for you, PM us for more information!

We have found a perfect home for Axew, his name is now Maverick, and going to his forever home tomorrow.
