Meet Papaya, a delicate little sweetheart with a story that’s just beginning. This slender and petite beauty was rescued by a kind-hearted Samaritan who found her wandering alone.

She was brought to an animal hospital after being found and has now made her way to our shelter, hoping for a warm, safe place to land. With her big, expressive eyes and the tiniest, most endearing meow, Papaya is impossible to resist. She's friendly, affectionate, and absolutely adores gentle pets and attention.

Now, all she needs is a loving foster home where she can feel secure, continue to blossom, and prepare for her forever family.

Hi there, my name’s Mango!

I’m about 8 months old, with long legs made for running and exploring (once I get a little braver), and big brown eyes that everyone says are full of sweetness. I’m a quiet girl—gentle and a little shy when I first meet new people—but if you’re patient, you’ll get to see my happy tail wags and my special little smile. Yep, I’ve got one of those!

Life’s been a bit of a journey for me so far. I don’t remember everything, but I know I’ve been looking for a place where I can finally feel safe, warm, and loved. I’m not the kind of pup who needs a big fuss—I’d be happiest in a calm home with someone who understands that I might need a little time to come out of my shell. But once I do, I promise I’ll be the sweetest, most loyal shadow you could ask for.

Could I be the soft spot your heart has been saving for someone like me? I’d really love a foster home while I wait for my forever one. Maybe… could it be with you?

Love,
Mango

Safe in RESCUE

MEDICAL URGENCY Dog at PUPS

This sweet husky boy was brought in as a stay on Wednesday.

He is an intact male, on the older side. It was noted that he had a mild limp upon impound.

Yesterday, the limp seemed worse and we noticed a small wound near his right elbow.

Today, things are significantly worse. His right elbow down to his carpus is swollen. We discovered multiple wounds and much of the flesh appears to be necrotic or infected with purulent discharge.

He has been started on antibiotics and pain medication. We don’t know what’s going on, but do know he will require veterinary intervention as soon as possible.

If he is not pulled by a rescue today and he declines over the weekend, we would have to send him to the vet and the city would likely elect euthanasia. He is truly a sweet, gentle guy and we would love to give him a chance. Please let us know if you can help!

Meet Eject and Rewind – Two Gentle Souls Looking for a Second Chance

Eject and Rewind are two shy, sweet boys who have been through a lot in their short lives. Found about a month ago and taken in by a kind finder, it quickly became clear that these intact males were not adjusting well to life together in a home. The stress led to some tension and inappropriate marking – behavior that can often be traced back to not being neutered and the unfamiliarity of their surroundings.

Unable to care for them long-term, the finder brought them to the shelter, where they’ve since been safe, but understandably scared and shut down. Eject and Rewind aren’t aggressive – just overwhelmed. They allow gentle handling and can be coaxed out of hiding with patience and treats, small signs that there's hope and heart behind those wide, worried eyes.

These boys aren’t bonded and would do best in separate, quiet foster homes where they can finally exhale, decompress, and learn what it feels like to be safe and loved. With time, care, and understanding, they’ll have the chance to show their true personalities.

If you’ve got a calm space and a kind heart, Eject or Rewind could really use a soft place to land. Fostering saves lives – maybe even theirs.

More About Maximus

Hey there, I’m Maximus — big name, big heart, big everything, really.

I’m what you might call an “extra-large gentleman in training.” Folks think I’m a Great Dane and Lab mix, which makes sense ‘cause I’ve got the height, the charm, and the goofy smile to prove it. I was found all alone in a park, still wearing my collar and leash, like I was just waiting for someone to come back. But no one ever did.

Even though my past is a bit of a mystery, I haven’t let it dull my spirit. I’m a friendly guy who just wants to be close to people — gentle as can be, even if I sometimes forget I’m the size of a small horse. I mean well, I promise! I’m just still learning a few of those “manners” everyone keeps talking about. (Like not trying to sit on your lap… but can you blame me? It looks comfy.)

All I need now is a foster home where I can stretch out, feel safe, and keep working on being the best version of myself. I’ll bring the love, the loyalty, and the giant cuddles — you bring the snacks and a little patience.

Let’s make a big impression together.
Love,
Maximus

Safe in rescue. Anybody who has pledged on this beautiful sweet girl, we'll be getting a private message giving you the information of which rescue she has gone to. It's very important, that you do not cement any pledges, until you receive confirmation the animal has left the building, and which rescue they have gone to.

$1600.00 in pledges as of morning of 4/16

Urgent PUPS dog in need of medical care

sweet little girl was brought in as a stray yesterday. We noticed that she was non-weight bearing on her front left leg and had significant swelling over her left shoulder. We sent her to the vet today and it was discovered that she has a left humeral fracture.

She was sent back to use with pain medication, but will obviously need more care than we can provide for her. The City has approved her to be released early, so we are hoping that one of our rescue partners can pick her up and get her the care that she needs asap.

If she is not tagged by a rescue by the end of the week, we may have to look at humane euthanasia for her as we can’t let a dog with a broken leg sit in the shelter without getting veterinary care. We don’t know anything about her history, but from what we’ve seen from her she is very sweet, gentle and just soaks up all the love. Please let us know if your rescue can help her!

Hey there, humans!

The name’s Mud Skipper (I know, I’m pretty much the coolest dog ever, right?). I’m a red merle bully mix with a whole lotta bounce in my step and love in my heart. I mean, who wouldn’t fall for this adorable face?

Now, let’s talk business. I’m currently living in a kennel, and I gotta be honest… it’s not my ideal vacation spot. It’s a little stressful in here, and I just want to be where the action is—on your couch, in your yard, and by your side! I’m an energetic gal who LOVES people, and I’ve got a ton of love to give. I’m pretty responsive too—so if you say “sit,” I’ll be like, “You got it!” and do it with style.

Here’s the deal: I’m looking for a foster home where I can stretch my legs, show off my smarts, and maybe even steal a few snacks when you’re not looking (just keeping it real). I promise, I’ll bring the fun, the snuggles, and an endless supply of tail wags.

So, if you’ve got a comfy spot for a girl like me, I’d love to crash at your place until my forever family finds me. In the meantime, I’ll keep you laughing with my goofy antics and charming personality. What do you say? I promise, I’m worth it!

Let’s make this happen!

Your future best friend,
Mud Skipper

Dog Test: Mud Skipper had a great dog test. She was initially a bit unsure and submissive but once she got a few sniffs in and realized this was a new friend, she was all in on playing with him!

In the comments there is a post op pic of Xena's leg! I haven't gotten the surgery estimate yet, but I know we don't have enough to cover it right now. But it made sense to do it while she was under for her spay.

We had originally planned to vet Xena, Bully Idol and Ironhide on Wednesday. Bully Idol was pulled by a rescue that has their own vet on staff, prior to us getting him vetted. We decided to reallocate the funds we had collected to vet Queen instead. We also decided to move the funds we had planned to use for Ironside to partially cover a mass removal for Xena since she was already going to be under anesthesia. The surgery was done today. I'll try to get a new photo and estimate for the surgery. Bumping Ironhide only contributed $100 towards the mass removal. Even though we're getting great pricing, I know it will be way more than that, so I want to start fundraising right away. Watch for updates.

I'll add a pic of Queen in the comments. She's now fully vetted. Thanks! Cheryl

Hey, hey, hey! I'm Dexter, and I’m here to tell you about my ruff journey. So, my last human had a bit of a run-in with the law (don’t worry, I was not involved—no paw prints on the scene), and well... they didn’t come back for me. But now, I'm ready to put the past behind me and find a new family who appreciates my charm and affection skills.

I’m not much into toys, honestly—why play fetch when I can just get belly rubs, right? I’m a people person through and through, and if you’re looking for a dog who’s 100% about the snuggles, I’m your guy. I came in with another dog, so I probably get along with other pups, though we haven’t had a formal doggy meeting yet. But I promise, I’m all about sharing the love (and maybe stealing a snack or two when you’re not looking).

So, if you're ready for a loyal companion who’s here for cuddles, affection, and maybe a tiny bit of mischief, let’s make it official. I’m Dexter, and I can’t wait to be your new best friend!

Dog Test: Dexter was a little stiff initially but non-reactive. He redirected easily and got more comfortable the more time he spent, even giving a few stiff but friendly play bows

I heard some people aren't comfortable with donating on our fundraisers where the funds go to Fur-Ever Home Rescue, or that we aren't being open enough about the funds being collected and spent. This is Cheryl, the admin of this page. I'm not affiliated with FEHR. I'm tracking the incoming and outgoing funds.

We had extra expenses with Vega, because he had to have obstruction surgery while he was being neutered. He had eaten blankets, that had to be removed from his intestines. Your donations are what is making this possible! We have 3 animals (Bully Idol, Xena and Iron Shield) going in this week, and we are actually a little short on funds, due to Vega's extra expenses.

We are getting great pricing from the FEHR vet, and they've been great to partner with on this effort. Rescues are able to pull these harder to place animals now, because they don't need to worry about getting vet appointments and the rising costs of veterinary care. If you ever have any questions, just ask! Thank you!
