Pet sitting is not easy or for the faint of heart. 🖤You work long hours, have to routinely make major business decisions, are daily entrusted with the serious responsibility of caring for others’ pets and often find yourself weary dealing with the loss of clients’ pets—or even clients themselves.

🧠Self-care is important. Burnout and compassion fatigue are very real issues in our industry—and, if left unaddressed, will begin to chip away at the professionalism of your business and the pet-sitting industry at large.

If you are unsure of what pet sitter burnout or pet sitter compassion fatigue are or how they are different, please be sure to visit www.petsit.com and search keyword: burnout.

Help me welcome Bean to the pack 😻

He’s 2 years old and LOVES to play in his tunnel, with the cat dancer, electronic fish, lasers, and feather wand toy. He could smell the treats in my f***y pack and would shove his face in it 😹 Also enjoys being held/pet as there were many purrs! He is one handsome boy 🩵

Help me welcome Carlos, Frankie, and Timber to the pack 🐾

Carlos is a 4 year old Rottweiler/Pitbull mix, Frankie is a 3 year old Pitbull/Lab Mix, and Timber is a 3 year old Golden Retriever 🥰 Their human recently had a baby so I get to spend time with them on occasion! We went on a walk together for the first time last week and I think it’s safe to say they are all happy to be a part of the pack ❤️

Help me welcome Riley and Luca to the pack 🐾

They are both 4 year old Heelers from the same liter 🥰 I got to spend time with them last weekend while their parents enjoyed the Minnesota Yacht Club Festival 🎶 It was so fun to see their different personalities. If Riley sees a squirrel she’ll get excited and sound like a hyena 😂 Luca loves to chomp at the grass on walks and will chirp with excitement! They have a large backyard so were living their best life running around and rolling in the grass 🌿

Sweet Lily girl crossed the rainbow bridge last fall 🥺🌈 She was the first dog to join my pack when I moved to the Metro 💕I feel so blessed to have gotten to know her for two and a half years. As you can see, she always had a smile on her face and enjoyed our morning walks together!

Her brother Moose took the loss pretty hard. Since I saw them daily, I spent the next few days laying on the floor with him as he was a shell of himself 😔 A familiar face was appreciated during a time of immense grief ❤️‍🩹

As a pet care professional, the pets I care for are more than just a number. I think of them as my own and because their safety, well-being, and comfort are my top priority, caring for your pet(s) is a privilege, never a burden ♥️

Is anybody looking to add a new dog to their home? ♥️

From owner:

“We’ve made the very difficult decision to try to re-home Rio 😔 We love him so so much and he’s a great dog in many ways, but his instinct to nip doesn’t mix well with young kids around all the time and we don’t have the capacity to train it out of him.

We think he’d be better off in a home that doesn’t have children. He’s a 5 yr old Aussie/Shepherd mix, 70 lbs, current on all vaccinations, chipped, crate trained, good with other dogs (not sure about cats?) and such a sweetheart! If we can find a good fit, we’ll put $500 into an account at the vet where he’d be taken moving forward.”
