Good Luck Avery! 🎓🩵

Please join us in sending well wishes to our Veterinary Assistant Avery as she starts her first year in college! We are going to miss her funny sense of humor, compassion, and incredible work ethic. She somehow was always ready to lend a helping hand and never shied away from trying new things. We are so thankful for all of her hard work during her time with us this summer. 😊

Thankfully, we will get to see her again during winter break! We are counting down the days!!

❤️Heartworm Disease and Testing - Let's Talk About It. 🪱

Find it hard to figure out when to have your pet tested for heartworm disease? Confused why it is recommended to test your pet when you are religious about giving them their monthly pill? 📆

Trust us, we get it.
Heartworm prevention is important—but so is regular testing! 🔎

Even dogs who receive heartworm prevention year-round should be tested as recommended by your veterinarian. No prevention is 100% foolproof, and missed doses, vomiting, improper absorption, or an infection that occurred before starting prevention can put your pet at risk. 😲

Our friends at the American Heartworm Society have put together this helpful infographic showing when heartworm testing is recommended in different situations—from puppies and newly adopted dogs to pets who have missed a couple of doses here and there. 💊

Why test? Regular testing helps us catch infections early, confirm that your pet’s prevention plan is working, and make sure your dog continues to receive the care they need. Regular annual testing allows us to continue to prescribe your pet's heartworm prevention risk free.🐾

Georgie wasn’t feeling his best thanks to some tummy troubles, so he got some extra TLC from Katie and Avery today. 💕🐶

A little fluids, lots of cuddles, and two dedicated members of his care team helped keep this sweet boy comfortable while he gets back to feeling like himself. 🥰

"Mom, I phrew up" 🤒

Remi had big fun plans for the weekend, but unfortunately his belly had another idea. Mom and dad had to call in reinforcements!

Luckily, with the help of Millis Animal Hospital's weekend walk-in Urgent Care, Dr. Flessas was able to come up a plan to save the day. She was able to check some blood work and x-rays right here in the hospital to help get Remi feeling his best and back to his big and exciting beagle life! 🐶
