February is National Dental Health Month! Most cats have initial signs of gum disease by the time they are 3 years old, according to the American Veterinary Medical Association. It can get worse as cats get older and lead to serious health problems without proper treatment.

Are you itchy yet? 😳

Recently, we have seen a few cases of Scabies come through our doors here at Millis Animal Hospital. This is a mite that bites and burrows into the skin causing extreme itching. This infection typically presents itself as red, scaly, hairless, itchy skin and can sometimes be mistaken for environmental allergies. It can even be passed to you and your family!
Although they prefer a warmer climate, our weather patterns are changing. This is why it is most important to practice year round flea/tick prevention to help prevent against these bugs and more. Bravecto, Simparica, Nexgard, and Revolution are all preventatives that help protect your beloved pets from mites such as Scabies- we carry most of these products here at Millis Animal Hospital!
