Did you know cats can learn to walk on a leash? It just takes a little patience!

Start by letting your cat get comfortable wearing a harness indoors. Once they’re relaxed, attach the leash and let them explore at their own pace. When they’re ready, try short outdoor adventures in a quiet, safe area.

𝗛𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝗶𝘀 𝗼𝘂𝗿 "𝗕𝗼𝗼𝗽" 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘄𝗲𝗲𝗸! - Piper

Piper is a sweet, medium-sized girl looking for her perfect companion. She loves to play and to carry around her favorite toys, too. She can be a snuggle bug and always ready for the next movie night!

Piper can be too loud for apartments, so she would need to go to a home without any shared walls with neighbors. Piper would love to be in a home with teenagers or older, as young children can be a bit scary. She prefers to be the center of attention!

Piper came to DCHS with Julie, and could be adopted with her, but they do not have to be. If you're looking for a talkative, active dog that will need a little bit of patience to come out of their shell, then Piper is the one for you!

Medical History: I appear to be a healthy adult, but it's always a good idea to set up an appointment with your vet soon after adoption so we can meet each other!

Weight: ~32 lbs
Restrictions: No apartments, teens+

𝐇𝐚𝐩𝐩𝐲 𝐂𝐚𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐝𝐚𝐲! 🐈
Here is our “Floof “of the week – Melba
Melba is a beautiful brown tabby with the sweetest, most expressive face - and if you look closely, you'll spot her special little surprise: soft touches of rich chocolate brown on her feet that make her even more unique.

Once a farm girl, Melba has embraced indoor life with her whole heart. She's a gentle communicator who will chat with you, rub against your legs, and offer tender head bumps to remind you she's ready for affection. She also gives wonderful hugs - the kind where she leans in, settles close, and makes you feel chosen. When you start petting her, she melts into a warm, grateful cuddle bug.

Melba may be toothless after a full dental, but she certainly doesn't let that slow her down - she has a great appetite and eagerly enjoys her meals. She's also being treated for pillow foot and takes her medication easily when mixed into her canned food.

Melba has a Grade 4 heart murmur. Many cats with murmurs live comfortably for years, but her future family should plan for periodic veterinary monitoring to keep an eye on her heart health and make sure she continues feeling her best.

This lovely girl has left her farm days behind and is ready for a future filled with soft beds, kind people, and all the affection she can soak up. She has so much love to give and can't wait to share her cuddles, her hugs, and her gentle gratitude with her forever family.

𝗙𝗿𝗶𝗱𝗮𝘆 𝗙𝘂𝗻 𝗙𝗮𝗰𝘁! Did You Know?

In Wisconsin, white-tailed deer are most active around dawn and dusk during the summer, when temperatures are cooler and they can forage more comfortably. 🌿

So, if you're out for an early morning walk or an evening drive, keep your eyes open… You just might spot one!

Mixed Breed, Young (1-3 years), Female, (26-60 lbs)
House-trained: Yes
Spayed/Neutered: Yes
Vaccinated: Yes

Stevie is the sweet girl with a bit of sass. She will steal your heart right along with your socks. Stevie was found at a dump having to fend for herself, which has made her a bit protective of her food and bones. Stevie will need to go to a home that will understand and respect this about her. This is a very workable non-issue as long as you handle it appropriately.

She is in a foster home with her sister and 3 other dogs with no issue. Stevie is very treat motivated (she takes treats very nicely) and trains easily. She is gentle and well mannered. She is crate trained and housebroken in her foster home (when she gets to her forever home, it may possibly take some time again).

Stevie’s favorite things: bones, cuddles; she loves to have quick cuddles, running and playing with her sister, Winnie. Stevie absolutely loves her older foster dog siblings and would love to have another dog in her forever home. Stevie would do best in a house with children 12 years and older.
