Happy Wednesday! What’s this?! It’s a therapeutic compression sleeve! This device combines compression with cryotherapy for the best of both worlds. Gentle cooling of inflamed tissues and joints reduces bloodflow and decreases pain, while the wrap provides intermittent pneumatic compression to reduce swelling and improve comfort and mobility. Using cold and compression together can be more effective than either treatment alone, making this a great option for patients recovering from surgery, managing injuries, or dealing with arthritis and chronic inflammation. 🧊🐾🩵 Companion Animal Health

✨ Pawblic Service Announcement ✨ While we at MARS love wildlife, we do not treat wild patients! We provide physical rehab for family pets, primarily dogs and cats (although we’ve been known to see the occasional chicken, pony, or longhorn calf)! If you are seeking care for an orphaned or injured wild animal, we recommend that you search for a local wildlife rehab that accepts the species of animal you’ve found (one way is to check the DNR website to find your county and its listed wildlife rehabilitators). Be safe out there! 🩵

MARS will be closed Monday for Memorial Day, but we’ll be back in the clinic on Tuesday as usual! We hope your weekend treats you well. Lauren and Cordelia recommend getting outside if you can, and checking for ticks! 🩵🌞🐾

Pawesome job to Bentley, who has been working hard!! He graduated after medically managing his second torn cruciate ligament (unfortunately, it is common to tear both). With a combination of laser therapy, underwater treadmill, and PRP (platelet-rich plasma) injections, as well as a plan for continued supplements, leash walks, and weight loss at home, Bentley is feeling right as rain! 🐾🩵🎓

Hooray for Fritz, who received injections at MARS this week!! Synovetin OA will help to relieve Fritz’ elbow pain and prevents future pain by delaying the joint damage caused by inflammation. Fun fact: Synovetin OA is a nuclear medical device, not a traditional medication, and it contains a radioactive isotope of tin! 🤓💚💉✨
