🌟 Ear Posting Supplies 🌟

One of our most FAQs is what materials we use/recommend to post our puppies ears and where to find it.

🔹 Gap Filler/Backer Rod: this is essentially a flexible foam tube that we use as the base for our post/forms. It can be found at any hardware store and we use 1/2” diameter. We do recommend increasing to 5/8” diameter, should your puppy still need posting past 8 months old.
🔹 Medical Cloth Tape: we use flexible, breathable cloth tape for 2 steps: (1) wrapping the foam post, sticky side *out,* so that it is secure and comfortable inside the ear, and (2) to wrap the ear around the post on the outside. This can be found at most major grocery/drug stores. It can also be used to ‘bridge’ the ears together, however we do not personally recommend bridging as we’ve found that it leads to more sores around the base of the ear.
🔹 Gauze: we recommend giving the ear a quick wipe down on both the inside and outside of the ear to ensure it is dry and clean. Moisture is our enemy! This can also be found at most major grocery/drug stores.
🔹 Baby Powder: we sprinkle this on the outside of the ear to help prevent hair loss. This is optional, but highly recommended!

We do send each puppy home with a few posting supplies to get families started, although most like to procure these items in advance.

Additionally we have an instructional video that is available for families to watch where we show and explain each step.

Another awesome pupdate! 🐶🐾

“Good afternoon! Just wanted to let you know Wade AKA Forest (born Oct of 2022, Atreyu x Regal) is 2 1/2! He is coming in to his own and growing up. He is beautiful and we get lots of compliments on him when we take walks. He also provides lots of laughs. Thank you so much!”

He grew into a GORGEOUS boy and we’re so glad he and his family are doing well. 😊

It just so happens that Regal has had her final litter with Atreyu before her retirement and they’ll be available to families this Friday! So Wade is a fantastic example of what these puppies will grow into. 🥰
