Elly's Animal Rescue

Elly's Animal Rescue Elly's Animal Rescue is a private non-profit aimed at helping any and all animals in need whenever and however possible.

Proof of rescue status & registration can be sent upon request. We ARE a 501(c)(3) charity under public charity status 509(a)(2). My name is Elly and I have been rescuing animals my entire life. I have turned what I was already doing into an official rescue because I wanted to expand my rescue efforts. I not only want to help animals directly, but indirectly by helping others with animal rescue by

sharing resources or knowledge whenever possible. In my home I currently have 14 cats, 2 dogs, 3 mice, and one Russian Tortoise, all of which are rescues. I also care for several feral outdoor cats in the neighborhood. I have rescued every kind of animal imaginable from the smallest of bugs to large horses, and continue to do so whenever necessary. I can offer lots of tips, advice, and resource ideas to those doing rescue in need. I certainly cannot save every animal myself, but I can share information with others regarding resources that may be of assistance. Prayers and positive thoughts are always appreciated, but donations are always helpful and needed. Elly's Animal Rescue is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit charitable organization and donations are tax deductible with receipts available at your request. Donations may be monetary, items from our wish lists or items for prizes for fundraisers. Our wish lists can be found on Amazon Smile, Chewy and Walmart.com. We are also an Amazon Smile charity and can be chosen as your charity when making purchases thru smile.amazon.com and we will receive a donation from your purchases. Further information on my rescues, both past and present, can be seen throughout this page. Thank you for your support and please share Elly's Animal Rescue's page with anyone who lives to rescue animals and supports our cause.

R.I.P. Lisa Buck, animal rescuer and champion.
While many rescues are understandably posting about the tragic loss of the wonderful man Chris Arsenault and 100 of his rescue cats of Happy Cat Sanctuary in New York, I would like to pay tribute to this local animal hero that just passed. Lisa Buck's resume in animal care and rescue was both impressive and extensive. The lives she saved and cared for were numerous. Her death, like with Chris, is truly a devastating loss for the animal world and she will be greatly missed.

IMPORTANT TO KNOW!!!

Did you know a Box turtle only roams 1 mile its whole life? If it is removed from its area/home, then for the rest of its life it will roam aimlessly stressed out... trying to find "home" until it dies a very sad death.

Please do not remove turtles. Do not take them home as pets. If one is injured, please mark the exact spot found for a wildlife rehabber or animal control agent. If a turtle is in the road, you can help by moving it directly across the street in the direction it was heading. Thank you!

Many people think it is harmless to let their children take home a docile turtle to play with and release it someplace they see appropriate. I was once that kid. Please share the knowledge.

Everything is different when you stop and actually look at the soul inside, not just the exterior.

Everything is different when you stop and actually look at the soul inside, not just the exterior.

During one tense bullfight, matador Álvaro Múnera did the unthinkable.

As the crowd roared for the next dramatic move, he suddenly stepped away from the bull, walked to the edge of the arena, and sat down. Silence fell over the spectators.

Later, Múnera revealed the moment that transformed him forever: "In that instant, I forgot the danger of the horns. All I could see were his eyes—not filled with rage, but with innocence. He wasn’t attacking; he was pleading for his life. I realized this was not a fight, but an act of cruelty. I dropped my sword, left the arena, and vowed never to fight again.

Instead, I would fight against a world that turns suffering into entertainment."

Múnera walked away from bullfighting and became an advocate against animal cruelty, using his platform to fight for the very beings he once battled. His story is a powerful testament to the force of compassion and the courage it takes to change.

Sometimes, all it takes is one moment of connection to see the world differently.

Vet trip. It's alot harder when you can't get them in the carrier. Fortunately, Marshmallow was box trained for her moves from the house to her outside pen everyday before it got too cold.

This is something we see often— raccoons curled up with their heads pressed against the ground, their eyes shielded from sunlight.

To well-meaning bystanders, it’s easy to project human experiences onto these situations. People assume they’re frightened, cold, or even depressed. Unfortunately, the reality is usually far worse than that.

Animals head-press when they have terrible headaches. Ever have a sinus headache and felt a little better when pushing the heal of your hand against your forehead? Head-pressing is a lot like that.

Raccoons rarely have severe headaches for benign reasons. In the best-case scenarios, head-pressing in a raccoon is a sign of a bad concussion. In the worst cases, it is a symptom of inflammation in the spine and/or brain, caused by a viral infection.

Canine distemper is the most common infectious cause of head-pressing in raccoons. In fact, out of nearly 100 patients we’ve seen with head pressing as a symptom, every single one was suffering from canine distemper.

If you see a raccoon pressing its head against the ground, please do not touch or approach it, but contact your local animal control, game wardens, or wildlife rehabilitators for assistance.

If you can't make a lifelong commitment to an animal regardless if they develope health or behavioral issues down the road,
DON'T GET ONE!

Important to know if you ever come across a baby deer by itself.

People that call rehabs and are concerned wether or not they should bring the found fawn in can look at this. The very first question is look at the ears. Are they straight? Or are they crumpled?
If straight , was the deer laying down or standing up?
This year every deer we have taken in has looked like this. The ears are crumpled and the deer was standing up and crying.
The crumpled ear tips mean that the fawn is dehydrated and mom is gone.
The baby needs help!!!
🦌🦌🦌🦌🦌🦌🦌🦌🦌
If you are EVER in question about wether or not you need to help the baby , this is the answer.
If you find one with these crumpled ears , get that baby help!
We always advise if you get the fawn and can’t get it to a rehabilitation facility right away, NEVER feed the fawn ANYTHING but unflavored pedialyte.
