PSA from our Animal Control Officer Chuck McCleary:

Animal Control receives dozens calls every year to help not just deer, but many wildlife species that have become tangled in everyday items we have in our yards, like soccer nets, hockey goals, volleyball or badminton nets and hammocks.

Please DO NOT leave these items out as a permanent fixture on your property. When not in use, they should be placed away somewhere safe so wildlife can't get entangled in them.

Not all rescue attempts are successful and some of these animals die a traumatic death, or have to be destroyed. They also cause significant damage to the items themselves.

It's not just deer that get stuck in these items, it's a variety of species that can become stuck and die. Please keep this in mind when utilizing these items on and around your property!!
