Meet Fenrir (aka Fenny)! 🐾💙
Fenny is a happy, playful German Shepherd puppy today, but he had a very difficult start to life.
When he was just a young puppy, Fenny developed parvovirus (parvo). His previous family was unable to afford the intensive treatment he needed, so he was surrendered to another veterinary hospital and later transferred to a rescue organization. After receiving the lifesaving care he deserved, Fenny made a full recovery and was eventually adopted into a loving forever home. Today, he's thriving—and we couldn't be happier for him!
His story is also an important reminder of why we vaccinate for parvo.
🐶 What is parvo?
Parvovirus is a highly contagious virus that attacks a puppy's intestinal tract and immune system. It can cause:
• Severe vomiting and diarrhea
• Dehydration
• Lethargy
• Loss of appetite
• Life-threatening illness, especially in young puppies
Parvo is spread through infected f***s and can survive in the environment for months, making it incredibly easy for unvaccinated puppies to be exposed.
💉 The good news? Parvo is largely preventable through the DA2PP vaccine, which protects against:
✔️ Distemper
✔️ Adenovirus (hepatitis)
✔️ Parvovirus
✔️ Parainfluenza
Because puppies are born with antibodies from their mother that gradually fade over time, they need a series of DA2PP vaccines to build strong, lasting immunity. That's why it's so important to stay on schedule with your puppy's vaccine appointments.
Fenny's story had a happy ending, but not every puppy is as fortunate. Vaccination is one of the safest, most effective ways to protect your puppy from a disease that can be devastating—and very costly—to treat.
