🐾 Meet Brynlee, aka “Sassy Princess”! 👑💗

Brynlee recently underwent surgery to correct stenotic nares (narrowed nostrils) and an elongated soft palate—two common airway abnormalities seen in brachycephalic, or “short-nosed,” dogs.

Surgery to widen the nostrils and shorten an elongated soft palate can help improve airflow and, in many dogs, make a huge difference in their quality of life. ❤️

And Brynlee’s family says the difference has been incredible! They recently sent us this update:

“She hasn’t been this active and happy in over two years. We have been able to play fetch in the backyard. She is able to run without almost having a heart attack in ten steps. I finally have my playful little girl back and I am so thankful.”

🥹💗 That is exactly why we do what we do!

We are so happy to see this Sassy Princess breathing easier, playing fetch, and getting back to being her happy, playful self. A huge thank you to her family for letting us share her story!

If your flat-faced pup snores loudly, struggles with exercise, tires easily, overheats easily, or seems to work hard to breathe, talk with your veterinarian. Noisy breathing shouldn’t always be considered “normal” for a short-nosed dog. 🐶❤️

🐱💗 It’s kitten season! 💗🐱

This time of year, we see so many adorable kittens looking for their forever homes! Whether you’re thinking about adopting or have recently welcomed a new kitten into your family, don’t forget to schedule their first veterinary visit. 🩺🐾

We are incredibly grateful to be part of this community effort. 🧡🐾

Our team is honored to help provide care and a safe place for pets affected by the wildfires, and we are so thankful for the incredible support from Best Friends Animal Society, SCRAPS, the Red Cross, and all of the veterinary and animal welfare organizations working together during this emergency.

It truly takes a community to care for these animals and help reunite them with their families. We are proud to stand alongside so many amazing organizations and people who are stepping up when our community needs it most.

Thank you to everyone volunteering, fostering, donating, transporting, providing medical care, and simply lending a helping hand. Every little bit makes a difference. 🧡🐶🐱

🐾 Meet Maeve! 🐾

This adorable 15-week-old Irish Wolfhound puppy came in today for her vaccines—and our Hospital Manager couldn’t resist getting in some extra puppy snuggles! 🥰

Irish Wolfhounds are her absolute favorite, so Maeve was definitely a special visitor. ❤️ We have a feeling she may have stolen a few hearts around the hospital today! 🐶

🐢 Meet Mr. T! 🐢

Mr. T is a beloved clinic pet from Fairwood Animal Hospital. Due to the recent wildfire evacuations, he and the rest of the Fairwood team had to leave their clinic on short notice.

We were honored to welcome Mr. T to Mt. Spokane Veterinary Hospital while evacuation orders were in place and to support our friends at Fairwood Animal Hospital during this challenging time. Our exotic animal veterinarians, Dr. Ahrendt and Dr. Bohner, made sure Mr. T stayed safe, comfortable, and well cared for until he could return home.

We’re happy to share that Fairwood Animal Hospital has reopened, and Mr. T is heading back where he belongs! ❤️

Our hearts go out to everyone affected by the wildfires, and we’re grateful for the opportunity to support our fellow veterinary community when they needed it most. Wishing continued safety to all the families, pets, and first responders working through these difficult circumstances. 🧡🐾
