🐾💗 Happy Veterinary Team Appreciation Week! 💗🐾

This week, we celebrate our amazing team❤️ We couldn’t do what we do without our incredible technicians, veterinarians, receptionists, kennel assistants, and every team member who helps care for our patients and clients each day. Everyone plays such an important role in making a difference, and we’re so grateful for the compassion, hard work, and dedication each person brings every day! Help us celebrate by sharing a favorite story about a staff member or by letting our team know how they’ve made a difference for you and your furry family members!

Your veterinarian can assess their weight and body condition and help create a weight-management plan tailored to their individual needs. When good teeth go bad…..
This 5lb chihuahua developed a jaw fracture due to severe dental disease. When teeth become infected, that infection spreads to the jaw and compromises it.
Unfortunately due to the chronicity of this fracture, the rostral portion of the jaw needed removal.
Sunflower will be much more comfortable now and pain free once she heals!
As a PSA—please have professional routine dental cleaning procedures done on your pet annually after the age of 5 years. This is preventable!

Gel-based cooling masks are becoming more common in homes, but they may pose an unexpected risk to dogs.

A recent case series described severe neurologic toxicity in dogs after ingestion of hydrogel cooling masks containing acrylamide. Because there is no specific antidote, awareness and prevention are especially important.

This Trends article reviews the reported cases, clinical signs, treatment considerations, and what veterinary teams should know when educating clients about these products.

Happy 4th of July from your friends at WellHaven Pet Health!

Here are 5 tips for you and your pets on this holiday!

1. Keep pets indoors: The loud noises and bright lights of fireworks can be extremely frightening for pets. Make sure to keep them in a secure and quiet room inside the house.

2. Create a safe space: Set up a cozy and comfortable area for your pet to retreat to if they are feeling overwhelmed by the festivities. This could be a crate or a favorite hiding spot.

3. Drown out the noise: Turning on some soothing music or white noise can help drown out the sound of fireworks and make your pet feel more at ease.

4. Avoid taking pets to fireworks displays: Even if your pet is usually well-behaved, the loud noises and crowded environment of a fireworks display can cause them to panic or potentially get lost in the chaos.

5. Update identification tags: In case your pet does happen to escape during Fourth of July celebrations, make sure their ID tags are up-to-date with current contact information.
