Welcome Jacey and Sofie!!

Madison Cat Project is delighted to welcome Jacey, our new Adoptions Coordinator, and Sofie, our new Development and Communications Coordinator.

From Jacey:

I'm from Michigan, I grew up in the Grand Rapids area, then moved to Lansing in 2020 where I initially started as a barista. I worked for a cat cafe in the area and was both the cafe manager and merch coordinator. Thats where I learned Fear Free practices and found a budding passion for being a part of the community and adopting out cats to their forever homes! I even adopted one of the cafe cats! His name was Plastic Kroger Bag!

I moved to WI 3 years ago. After a couple of years immersed in specialty coffee, and a brief stint in behavioral health, I'm excited to be welcomed into MCP and lean back into my animal welfare passion again. I'm an artist who likes to paint and crochet, I dabble in photography, and find anything nature related fascinating. I live with my wonderful partner Collin, also a barista, who's always been my best friend and biggest cheerleader. I'm excited to help our community meet their fuzzy friends and be a part of the MCP mission!

From Sofie:

Hello! I just moved back to Madison after a few years of moving around and exploring myself and the world. I’m so excited to be back in my hometown and following my passion: cats!

Previously I’ve worked in one of UW-Madison’s communications offices, at various outdoor recreational programs, and even spent a year in Colorado as a preschool teacher. Im psyched to bring my skills and knowledge to MCP!

Besides cats, my passions include reading, watching movies, crafting, camping and hiking, and traveling. I also host trivia at a bar once a week!

MCP has an action-packed August coming up, and we hope you can make it to some or all of the events we're going to be a part of!

🎨 Saturday 8/15 from 12-6, Okie Dokie Tattoos will be hosting a cat-themed tattoo flash sale with some of the proceeds going towards MCP! They'll also be collecting donations in the form of much-needed items, and celebrity guest, Jason, from Instagram's "Cats of Madison" will be attending and taking pictures of all the cool cat body art!

🍺 Saturday 8/15 from 3-8, we will be at Delta Beer Lab for the Dog Days of Summer market, put on by Madison Makers Market! The theme of the day will be local rescues and vendors who are companion animal-themed! We might even have an available cat at the event - who knows!

🐾 Friday 8/21 from 5:30-9, we will be at the Madison Children's Museum for their 21+ only Adult Swim at Madison Children's Museum: Dog Days event! Though the theme of the day is dogs, we know there will be plenty of cat-and-dog-lovers attending, as plenty of homes have cats AND dogs! We'll be providing behavior advice for any dog parents with cats, and selling merch to promote all the cool stuff MCP does!

We love having the support of businesses in the Madison area, and we hope to feel the love of community members by seeing you at some or all of these upcoming events!

MCP relies heavily on the magic of squeezable wet food tube treats to help us keep our cat friends happy! For wellness patients, a cat GoGurt can sometimes make or break the appointment. Leaving their home and routine is scary, and some cats have even had negative experiences at the vet before, so we really like to utilize the tasty stuff to make the experience as enjoyable as possible! With shelter cats, it's almost more important - you're now living in this strange environment that isn't really the vet, but it also isn't a home either, and all these people you've never met before keep trying to interact with you. Starting off a friendship with some GoGurt can definitely get a cat's shelter experience off on the right foot!

This is where we need your help: our GoGurt stock is running very low! We have so many cats that come into our building who could really use this special treat to lighten their experience! We're not picky about brands: Churu, Tiki Cat, Delectables, Temptations, Bonkers - as long as it's wet food in a plastic tube, it all hits the same for our cats!
