If you've walked through our front door in the past 5 years there is no doubt that you've had the privilege of dealing with Kirsten Jade Austin. Today marks her 5-year anniversary as part of the Lynchburg Vet family! Kirsten is the Queen of Chaos Control for us... and she does it with a sense of humor (usually) and a smile (sometimes!). In addition to everything she does at the front desk, she is taking over a lot of Wendy's behind-the-scenes management duties and she's rocking it!
We absolutely appreciate her multi-tasking, organization, patience, and financial finesse. We are so happy to have her be our Front Line on the team!
We realize that our exceptional team is what makes us stand out in customer service ( both 2-legged and 4-legged),and we are making an effort to recognize the fantastic people that are 'Lynchburg Vet'. Thank you Kirsten, for being part of our family for 5 years!

Your heart-warming smile producer for the day!
( Celina Truck Stop is not a real place, but their FB page can be hilarious!)

I have been asked to acknowledge a situation that occurred yesterday:

While leading a tactical training session, a creature approached me for physical affection. The creature then rolled over onto its back, exposing its abdomen toward me. I am unsure why it did this.

I was immediately overwhelmed with an unfamiliar sensation deep within my chest. I am not weak or vulnerable. I am a grown man and the Leader of the Celina Special Forces Unit.

Despite this, I retrieved the animal as it settled into my arms and began producing a self-soothing noise. I have named him "Captain Mittens" for reasons I'm not comfortable explaining. I am taking the day off to process the situation.

DeWayne Alexander
CSFU Tactical Leader

This is an interesting and short read for cat lovers and Titanic buffs!

🐾 🚢 According to Violet Jessop—Titanic stewardess and three-time shipwreck survivor—a mysterious white cat showed up on the deck of the Titanic while she was still in Belfast. The ship had been sitting in dry dock for a year, and this streetwise feline wandered aboard all on her own. The crew took to her instantly, built her a cozy nook below decks, and named her Jenny.

From day one, Jenny roamed freely across the decks, prowled the grand staterooms, and explored the hallways—an enthusiastic mouser hired to keep the rats at bay, especially in the first-class areas. Then, in early April, Jenny surprised everyone by giving birth to a litter of kittens. The Irish stoker Joseph Mulholland kindly set up a warm corner for the mother cat and her newborns in the galley, near the cooks’ stove.

But the real twist came at Southampton. One by one, Jenny carried each kitten from the ship’s galley down to the dock, depositing them safely on solid ground—and then she sat on the quay, watching the Titanic as it prepared to sail. Taking her cue, Mulholland left his post aboard too, remaining onshore with Jenny and her brood.

Five days later, word reached Southampton of the Titanic’s tragic sinking. Jenny’s instincts had saved not only her kittens but also Joseph Mulholland’s life. Thus was born the legend of Jenny, the cat who foresaw the Titanic’s fate.

✨ Sometimes, those who can’t speak in words whisper the greatest warnings. Trust your instincts—whether you’re feline or human.

Not all of us like fireworks! If your pups are part of that group, don't forget to prepare them for the loud week-end! Call us today if you think you need something for them to 'take the edge off'. We can talk to you about your options. Please put an ID tag on your pet! This is the week of the year that more pets disappear because of the stress of fireworks.
We wish everyone a blessed and safe Fourth of July week-end. Happy BBQing!
(And if you happen to be at the Shelbyville Rec Center fireworks Friday, come see the Mortons and get a burger or brat at the Barking Pig Food trailer!)
