Friends of Animals is a 501c3 tax deductible non profit organization formed in November 2013. In our city/county, We do not have any type of animal shelter, animal control, no enforcement of animal related laws or any type of outlet for unwanted animals. We are the one and only organization making a difference in the lives of helpless dogs and cats in our community. Our mission is to care for and

re-home stray, abandoned animals in our community, along with educating the public on the importance of spay/neuter and proper pet care. We do not receive any funding from the government, the city or county or grants. We operate solely on donations from individuals and local businesses. All our animals receive the same care and love they would if they were our own pets. We strive to create a 'home like' atmosphere to help the animals feel comfortable and safe while we have them and make for a better transition into their forever home. FOR DONATIONS:

Good morning, everyone. We need to have an important conversation. ❤️🐾 Please understand this is not directed at one person. We get calls every day that pertain to this whole situation.

As many of you know, we are currently far beyond our capacity here at Moore County Friends of Animals.

Right now, we are caring for 26 cats and 14 dogs — 40 animals total. We also have a waiting list of animals that desperately need to come into our care. Thankfully, some wonderful community members are holding onto those animals until we can make room, and we cannot thank you enough for doing that.

But we need everyone to understand something very important:

When we say we have no room, we truly have NO room.

It isn't because we don't care.
It isn't because we don't want to help.
And it certainly isn't because we enjoy saying no.

We are saying no because every available space is being used. We have animals in our basement. We have dogs in our outside kennels. With this extreme summer heat, we are putting swimming pools in the kennels, adding ice to their water, and doing everything possible to keep them comfortable, cool, healthy, and safe.

Our staff and volunteers are working incredibly hard to care for every animal already depending on us.

And there is something else we need to address.

Please do not threaten to harm, dump, abandon, or euthanize an animal because we tell you that we cannot take it.

Those threats are heartbreaking, and they do not magically create another kennel or cage. They simply put an enormous amount of additional pressure on people who are already doing everything they possibly can to help the animals of Moore County.

We will help however we can. We can offer suggestions, resources, and sometimes a place on our waiting list. But we cannot put another animal into a facility that is already beyond its capacity and still provide the level of care these animals deserve.

Please help us be part of the solution.

Adopt. Foster. Volunteer. Donate. Share our adoptable animals. Encourage responsible pet ownership and spaying and neutering. And if you're able to safely hold onto an animal while waiting for space, please know just how much that helps us.

We love these animals. That is exactly why sometimes we have to say no.

Thank you to everyone who continues to support Moore County Friends of Animals and who understands that behind every "we don't have room" are people working tirelessly to save as many lives as we possibly can. ❤️🐾

🐾 A HUGE THANK YOU TO ONE OF OUR FAVORITE PEOPLE! 🐾

We want to give a very special shoutout to Byron Chism, one of our favorite people in the whole wide world! ❤️

Byron came out today and volunteered his time helping us take care of the dogs—and as if that wasn't enough, he even bought us lunch! 🐶🍽️

Byron, thank you for always being there for us, for answering the call when we need help, and for loving these animals right alongside us. People like you make the long, busy days a whole lot easier and remind us just how blessed we are to have such wonderful friends supporting Moore County Friends of Animals.

We appreciate you more than you know. Thank you for everything you do for us and, most importantly, for our fur babies. ❤️🐾

We love you, Byron! You are truly part of our FOA family! 🐶🐱❤️

🎉🐾 CONGRATULATIONS & HAPPY GOTCHA DAY, MERLIN! 🐾🎉

Our sweet Merlin has found his forever home! ❤️

This precious deaf puppy may need just a little extra patience, understanding, and a different way of communicating—but we knew the perfect family was out there waiting for him. Today, Merlin found them, and we couldn't be more overjoyed! 🥹🐶

Merlin doesn't need to hear the words “I love you” to know he's loved. He'll feel it in every gentle touch, every hand signal, every cuddle, and every adventure with his new family. ❤️

Thank you so much for choosing to adopt from Moore County Friends of Animals and for opening your heart and home to a puppy who just needs a little extra. We know Merlin is going to have an amazing life!

Happy Gotcha Day, Merlin! 🏡🐾💙
Go live your happily ever after, sweet boy. You deserve every bit of it! 🎉

🐾❤️ HAPPY GOTCHA DAY, PADFOOT & MERCEDES! ❤️🐾

Today we got to celebrate TWO more happily-ever-afters! 🎉🏡

Sweet Padfoot and Mercedes were adopted by members of the same family, but they’ll each be living in their own household and getting all the love and attention they deserve. 🐱❤️🐱

One of the best parts of rescue is that we don't just find forever families for our animals—we often make new friends and gain new members of our extended rescue family along the way. And today was definitely one of those special days. 🥰

Thank you so much for choosing to adopt from Moore County Friends of Animals and for opening your hearts and homes to these two precious babies.

We can't wait for the pictures, the updates, the spoiled-rotten stories, and everything that comes with watching Padfoot and Mercedes live their very best lives! 🐾🏡💕

Happy Gotcha Day, babies! Your forever starts NOW! 🎉❤️🐾

🎡🐾 STEP RIGHT UP AND MEET OUR CARNIVAL CREW! 🐾🎡

By now, many of you know that yesterday, with the help of our Moore County Sheriff’s Department, we welcomed some new little faces into our care—Pit Bull/American Bully puppies! ❤️

These babies are only about 6–7 weeks old, so they still have a little growing, vetting, and TLC to do before they’re ready to leave us. We expect them to be available for adoption toward the end of August.

And yes… I may or may not have been hungry and thinking about the carnival when it came time to name them. 😂🎠🍿

Meet some of our carnival cuties:

🐶 Corn Dog — our handsome black male
🌽 Kettle Corn — our beautiful brown and blue female
🎡 Funnel Cake — our adorable tricolored female

These babies are sweet as all get out, and those little faces are already stealing hearts around here! Their mom and dad are American Bulldogs, and we can't wait to watch these babies grow and see their personalities really start to shine.

They aren't quite ready to pack their little carnival bags and head home yet, but their forever families can start falling in love now! ❤️

Keep watching our page for updates as we get closer to the end of August. We have a feeling these little carnival babies are going to be pretty popular!

🎟️ No tickets required—just a forever home, lots of love, and maybe a couch to cuddle on! 🐾❤️

❤️ A DAY OF UPS, DOWNS & AN UNEXPECTED BLESSING ❤️

Well everyone, we wanted to give you a little update about today.

It has definitely been a day full of ups and downs, tears of joy, and tears of heartbreak. Some days in rescue are harder than others, and today has been one of those days.

But right when we needed a reminder that we aren't doing this alone, an unexpected blessing came our way. ❤️

We want to give a very heartfelt THANK YOU to the Baker family for their incredible generosity today.

It is people like the Baker family—and all of you in this wonderful community—who keep us going day after day. You step up when we least expect it, and sometimes the words "thank you" just don't seem big enough to express what your kindness means to us and to the animals in our care.

Today, this blessing was definitely needed.

It has been a long and emotional day for everyone involved, but tonight we are ending it with grateful hearts and another reminder of just how blessed Moore County Friends of Animals truly is to have this community standing beside us.

To the Baker family, thank you from the bottom of our hearts—and from every set of paws here at the rescue. 🐾❤️

Your kindness made a difference today. More than you know. ❤️
