Grewia occidentalis according to 🌿 Native to South Africa, but grows well here in South California. ☀️ This poor plant had been chopped to the ground by the previous resident, but I’ve let it grow for the past several years and this is our first bloom. 🌸

Refurbished Dahlia‘s rabbit tower today. 🏰 Yes folks. Rabbits like cat towers. 🐈 Being rather territorial, Dahlia had made a mess of the carpeting on the base of her tower so I peeled it off and used an IKEA rug to reupholster it. I didn’t fully attach it, though, so I could easily take it off to clean or replace. It’s held on with the screws that hold the posts on. I still have to re-cover the tall pole, but the others are covered in sisal, carpet, coconut coir, and seagrass rope (which she’s already chewed🤦🏻‍♀️). She seemed happy with her refurbished furniture. What kinds of furnishings and accessories do your rabbits like? 🐇

Once again, folks, we need some help. Last week I had an urgent case with sanctuary piggy Piper for a cyst under his chin. Thankfully, the vet was able to drain most of it, and antibiotics have resolved the rest. He’s doing fine. However, that was an unexpected bill.🤦🏻‍♀️ Last evening, I had to rush Dickens from our rescue boy trio to the ER when I found him lethargic and painful upon palpation in his abdomen. He appears to have some sort of kidney infection, although need to do an ultrasound to check for soft tissue abnormalities to rule out cancer, etc. He had to stay in hospital overnight and will possibly be there again tonight. He’s been running a fever and unable to urinate properly. So here we are again asking for your help. A small rescue like us can be wiped out with even one complex medical case, and after so many over the course of our six years here in LA we have entered the danger zone with finances. Please share us with others as we ask for help again. We appreciate so very much our community’s continued support, but we need to expand our reach. Feel free to add hashtags to other topics that our posts could reach for help. It’s not just about financial support, but also to bring awareness to the cause of animal welfare. Links to contribute to our efforts are in our bio.
