A traveler lost across the misty moors? 🌫️ A star-crossed lover, looking for her handsome gentleman? 💔 A queen betrayed by her king, banished to The Tower? 👑 I’m afraid the answer is a little disappointing. 😆 👞 Just my garden shoes hung to dry and forgotten.

Not AI. Not photoshop. An actual rainbow on a Guinea pig 🌈 Marie came to us from baldwin park shelter on an urgent plea for help from our friend Small Animals San Gabriel Valley She and her friend Elspeth had been housed with two males for over a year in their previous home. On purpose. 😠 We had to assume the girls were pregnant. Fortunately, neither of them are, although it was obvious they had recently had babies. Unfortunately, Marie was found to have an enormous abdominal mass. After two ultrasounds, it was still impossible to see exactly how big the tumour is, or what it might be attached to. Our options are to do a very expensive CT scan and still might not be able to get the information we need, or an exploratory surgery, which would put her through a lot with an already poor prognosis. 😔 💔 I am pretty sure surgery is the wrong thing to do, but i’m still trying to convince myself. I just want to go in and fix it. I hate these decisions. 😞 For now, we absolutely adore this beautiful little rainbow girl and will spoil her for as long as she is with us. 💚

Yes, Aurora is wearing a Christmas sweater 🌲 and no, she’s not happy. She was scheduled for a bandage change today, but decided last night to get a headstart on removing it. This type of bandage has to be removed with a solution to dissolve the adhesive. She was, however, able to get her foot underneath just enough to make a superficial laceration over the wound site. 🤦🏻‍♀️ We anticipated only one more week of bandaging because it was healing so well. Until last night. It took a half an hour to get her wrapped back up and I used the sweater to give her something else to bother with aside from the bandage. It didn’t take her long to get the back strap off, but thankfully she was still otherwise properly wrapped this morning when we went off to the vet. It looks like we’ll have at least two more weeks of bandage changes now. 😕

Stuff for your small animal companions from Costco! Whaaaaaat??? 😮 First up, these weird noodle mat hand towel towels. I don’t know about them working for hand towels, but they make great guinea pig beds. They’re thick cushioned with noodle mat all around, and perfect for guinea pigs. Three pack for $6.99. 🛌. Next we have the plush PVC backed rugs that are great for rabbits. They actually work for guinea pigs, too, in a play area. Easy to hose out and throw in the wash. I’ve been using them for rabbits for a couple of years now and they last a long time. $12.99. 🐇. The totes are currently on sale for $6.99, but even at the regular price of $7.99 they’re a great deal. CHEMICAL FREE (not all plastic containers are safe for animals) and just the perfect size to store 4 flakes of hay- about 20 pounds of hay. They stack, they’re easy to clean, and they last for ages. 📦 Not everything you need for your animal companions comes from a pet store. Costco and Ikea are both resources for all kinds of items for all kinds of animals. 🐭🐹🐱🐶

Woohoo! 🥳 Ernest got his proper Bio-active enclosure today! I am so excited and pleased with this purchase. I’ll do a YouTube video on it soon, once Ernest gets settled in and we see how this thing works. Need to get live plants and more bugs for the cleanup crew 🧹 So here’s just a sneak peek of Ernest’s new home 🏠 💚 🐁
