๐ Itโs one of the most common questions we hear, and itโs a fair one! ๐
We understand it can feel uncomfortable when your pet leaves the exam room while youโre asked to stay behind. It may even leave you wondering what happens once theyโre out of sight. ๐ค๐ญ
The answer is simple: Weโre not taking your pet away to hide anything. Our treatment area is simply where we can provide procedures and treatments as safely, efficiently, and with as little stress as possibleโฆ for both your pet and our medical team!!! ๐พ
โก๏ธ Hereโs why:
๐ถ We have the equipment we need. Our treatment area has the lighting, supplies, laboratory equipment, and medical tools needed, at arms length, to perform procedures safely and efficiently.
๐ฉโโ๏ธ Many procedures require multiple staff members. Blood draws, nail trims, injections, IV catheter placement, bandage changes, and other treatments are often safest and quickest when two or more trained team members are working together.
In most cases, the exams rooms just arenโt big enough!
๐ Many pets actually do better without their owner present!!! It may sound surprising, but many animals are less anxious and more cooperative once theyโre away from their owner! ๐คฏ๐
They often arenโt trying to protect their family member or feeling their emotions, making the procedure quicker and less stressful for everyone, especially them!

๐ปโโ๏ธWhy canโt owners accompany their pets into the treatment area? ๐ซ
โผ๏ธOur treatment area is a restricted medical workspace, where our doctors and technicians provide care for multiple patients throughout the day.
โ ๏ธ๐ฉป๐๐This includes preparing medications, performing medical procedures, treating hospitalized patients, monitoring pets recovering from surgery or anesthesia, and discussing confidential patient information. ๐๐๐ฉปโ ๏ธ
To ensure the safety of our patients, visitors, and staff, and to protect the privacy of all clients, access to the treatment area is limited to authorized veterinary personnel. ๐ฅ
This allows our medical team to provide focused, efficient, and uninterrupted care for every patient!
๐คข๐ทSome procedures are also a little less glamorous than others! ๐
Expressing a**l glands, collecting urine or f***l samples, cleaning infected wounds, treating ear infections, and other procedures can get pretty messy, smelly, and often involve bodily fluids. ๐ท๐คข
Our treatment area is specifically designed and equipped for these situations, allowing us to safely and efficiently perform these procedures while keeping exam rooms cleaner and more comfortable. ๐งผ๐ซงIt also helps spare owners from having to experience unpleasant sights, smells, or accidental exposure to bodily fluids that can sometimes come with certain treatments!
โจAnd as a bonus: your pet can return to you thinking youโre still the hero, instead of the person who was present for their most โundignifiedโ moments. ๐๐
