🪰Black Fly Bite Season has commenced! 🪰

⭕️The bullseye rings are a panicking sight
for any pet lovers, however majority of the time it will just be from “harmless” but pesky black flies that are in the grass. There is no need to panic if you see a few of these bites (normally located in the inner thighs/ around privates)

If you notice any type of bites they should be monitored for any changes and you should notify your vet if they become swollen, if they appear to be spreading, if the skin becomes scaled, or starts to ooze. 🩺

(And please don’t bring your pet in to the spa if you appear any of these changes- straight to the vet, do not pass go do not collect $200!)

🚿🧼Regular baths to remove odors can help prevent the flies from becoming attracted to your dog. Along with natural, pet safe insect repellents like wondercide brand found online or your local pet supplies stores, or you can make your own by looking up a recipe for essential oils-pet safe bug spray!

A month ago I placed third place in my first ever poodle grooming contest with a dear client’s retired show dog Mimic, it was an intense 2 hours sc******ng through 8 weeks and many inches of hair growth to find a show ready outline in all the floof❤️ It was far from perfect, and I learned a lot! Can’t wait to apply what I learned from the judge’s feedback to the next competition! Pup Palooza Buffalo

Our talented new groomer in training, Katie, getting her BIGgs FLUFFY dog experience in! Katie has been with us since January, working alongside Sam and learning hands on throughout the past months.

We all just came back from Pup Palooza Buffalo where she took numerous seminars and courses (including but not limited to) like Melissa Jepson’s Difficult dog certification course, and a double coated breed specialty course, which she is now putting her new knowledge the test with this beautiful ✨diva✨ samoyed and she is handling herself like a true double coated master!!

There is a LOT to get down when learning any new skill, grooming pets being no different! You couldn’t imagine the numerous different things that have to go through your head at every moment while a live animal is in front of you, and sharp tools in your hand! Her safety skills are amazing, her techniques are impressive and now we just have to work on the final steps like learning her preferred routines and timing before she is off on her own schedule booking her own clients! You will be able to book with her by the end of the month!!

Can you believe this handsome boy is 14!?! He looks so good! Even though he looks great on the outside still, his body is unfortunately slowing down and has lots of aches and pains. His mom called us because his last grooming session ended with him being very lame and pretty much collapsed with exhaustion and pains. We helped set her expectations for him- not us- low. Because in order to let him walk out of our salon with his tail still wagging, we needed to listen to him and set priorities of the service and skip parts that caused him too much discomfort. We let him lay down as needed, gave him rest breaks and lots of love throughout❤️
There will sadly come a time where none of it is possible while also prioritizing his comfort, as that time comes for every senior pet, but we felt pretty proud of how much he was able to handle when given the opportunity to communicate his needs. That’s the Biggs and Littles Pet Spa way! No matter the age, the comfort and stress levels of the pets come first💕
