Walking on a rainy Memorial Day morning.

“It is foolish and wrong to mourn the men who died. Rather we should thank God that such men lived.” George S. Patton

It took Belle 1 day to get on the new cat tree. She claimed the top bunk. It took Braveheart 3 days to get on it and I think he only got on it to get to Belle. He seems to like the house or she rules the top bunk!

Waiting to pick up a prescription. I haven’t been on for a while. This is a “new” car. Mine was stolen the first of June last year and involved in several burglaries. I’m still getting notices on hearings for the young man involved. In the fall I discovered a lump on Annea’s back. They believed it was cancer although the biopsy wasn’t good and they were not able to determine if it was cancer. Because of her age (and the fact she has had 2 major surgeries in the last year) I decided not to put her through another surgery. Happy to report that the lump has reduced in size. So small I can barely find it!😍🐕‍🦺🐾❤️

I read recently one reason why Labrador and Golden Retrievers die younger than most breeds are due to heart failure. I have been fortunate as my Labs have lived to age 16 or older whereas a Labs average life span is 12 years. However, a lot of Labs and Goldens start showing signs of heart issues at age 7. All dogs need taurine, but the Labs and Goldens seem to need a little more than other dog breeds. My Lab, Annea, is on supplements from ferapets although not their Cardiac Support. I am very happy with her results on their products, so I have no hesitation in the Cardiac Support for Dogs & Cats. I will be buying some for my cat Braveheart who a heart murmur and will let you know how it helps him. Another place you can get the taurine supplement is from PawVita. I am not a sponsor of ferapets or PawVita. Just wanted to let you know of issues Labs and Goldens have and suggest you do you own research on this.

The active ingredients include Taurine and Organic Hawthorn Berry so that you can keep your pet happily ticking along. No one wants to see their pet lose energy or longevity due to common cardiovascular issues.

STERLING
Age: 6 year old male
Weight: Medium (50-75 lbs)
Good with: Children 10+, dogs; cats unknown
Needs: A single family home with a physical fence
House trained? Yes
Crate trained? Yes

Loves: Snow, zoomies, playtime
Working on: Taking treats gently, calmer greetings
Dream home: With humans who will continue reinforcing his training and meet his exercise needs

Sterling is a man of many talents! He’s a couch foot warmer, a kitchen speed bump, a bed warmer, a clown and an all around gorgeous guy. We think he knows it, too, the way he showboats around in the snow! Sterling has a bit of a stubborn streak, but he came back from obedience training a new man: well mannered in the house, calmer, cuddlier, and a rockstar on leash. He has a lot of energy, so he’s looking for active humans and maybe a doggie pal who also enjoys vigorous play. Handsome Sterling will do best with clear expectations, consistency and reinforcement of his recent training.

Our service area covers VA, MD, DC, PA, WV, DE and NC, with most dogs fostered in MD or VA (we do not provide a specific location, as a dog may move while in our care). To learn more about a dog and how to adopt, the first step is to complete an application at lab-rescue.org/adoption-process. An adoption coordinator will be assigned to answer your questions and guide you through the process.
