Standing Water Kennels

Standing Water Kennels Our love of working dogs led us to branch out and help others by offering boarding and training from basic obedience to waterfowl hunting.

Training
It is important to remember that each dog learns at his/her own pace and training will be adjusted to your dog's learning speed. Pet parents are to come twice per month to familiarize themselves with the commands and training process. Weekly visits are encouraged

Obedience- Our basic obedience program is a minimum of 6 weeks. During this time we will work on sit, here, heel, down, and p

lace. Your dog will learn the ins and outs of proper obedience and start on its way to becoming a well-behaved companion. Hunting Dog- Our waterfowl hunting dog program is a minimum of three and a half months. Dogs 6 months of age and older. Dogs should be acclimated to swimming, vehicles, boats, gunfire, retrieving, kennel, simple marks, simple lead/leash obedience, feathers, dead birds, and beginning prey drive. In these three and a half months we will build your dog's confidence in retrieving with force fetch, entry water work, and formal obedience. Required Vaccines for Your Dog
Dogs four months of age and older must have up-to-date rabies, distemper, and bordetella inoculations. We recommend the lepto vaccination as well. We require that all dogs have a recent heartworm test prior to arrival. Flea & Tick and Parasite Prevention – we require dogs to be given a flea and tick prevention treatment. If your dog is not currently being treated for fleas and ticks we will provide an 8-month Seresto collar upon check-in for an additional charge. If your dog is not currently on a parasite (de-wormer) preventative, we can administer it monthly. If your dog has worms upon arrival, we will quarantine and treat for the cost of wormer. Nutrition
We feed your dog two meals per day and fresh water is always available. We offer a nutritious kibble-based diet. If you choose to bring your dog’s food from home, we ask that you package and label a month's supply with your dog’s name. Pet Health & Safety
If your dog requires medical attention while in our care, we will let you know right away, and will contact your veterinarian as well as other highly-trained veterinarians in our area. As mentioned above, we will administer flea & tick, parasite preventative, and other medications as needed. Basic grooming will be provided: brushing, nail trims, and baths as needed.

While we might not have a current litter on the ground. We are still just doing the dog thing: working euro hunts, boarding dogs, enjoying all the snuggles.
We are currently not accepting new clients for training. Only current clients or puppies from our litters at this time.

Meet SWK's Fallen Angel: Luci 🌟

Life has a funny way of bringing things full circle, and Luci's story is no exception. 🐾

She was the only chocolate pup born in a litter of 12, the first to have a deposit, yet fate had other plans. When her original owner couldn't take her home, it seemed she was destined to stay with us.

Luci's roots run deep, coming from Yara, a pup from Echo and Boomer's last litter. Initially, we dreamed of breeding Cas and Echo, but genetics had other plans. Instead, Yara and Cas turned out to be a perfect match, with health and purpose guiding our breeding decisions.

Brian has now welcomed a pup he has always dreamed of, embodying the temperament, drive, and balance we've strived for. We are excited to see the great things Luci will achieve alongside Brian.

Welcome to the family, SWK's Fallen Angel, aka Luci! 🌟

Our farthest traveling this litter made it to his new family in Florida a few days ago! Thank you Nicole Myrkle for the ground transport! There's no one better to transport our pups safely to their new homes.

Let’s get one thing straight:
We NEED ethical dog breeders.
Not backyard breeders.
Not puppy mills.
Not “oops litters.”
Ethical. Responsible. Passionate. Breeders.

Because the truth is this:

Good breeders don’t just produce puppies — they protect entire breeds.
They’re the reason we still have healthy working dogs, therapy dogs, sport dogs, and family companions with predictable temperaments and solid genetics.

Good breeders raise puppies like they’re staying forever.
Socialization, early exposure, enrichment, confidence-building…
None of that is “extra.” It’s STANDARD.

Good breeders take dogs back, every time.
For life.
No questions. No judgment.
Because their puppies NEVER end up in shelters, ever.

Good breeders breed for preservation, for improvement, and for LOVE.

And here’s the part people don’t want to admit:
Without ethical breeders, we’d lose the breeds we depend on and adore.
Service dog lines.
Duty-driven working breeds.
Family-safe temperaments.
Sound structure.
Predictability.
Purpose.
History.

Shelters are full because of irresponsible breeding —
not ethical breeding.

So next time someone says,
“Just adopt,”
remind them:
You can support shelters
AND still value ethical breeders.

Both matter.
Both play crucial roles.
Both are needed.
Because the breeders doing it right?
They’re the ones keeping dogs healthy, stable, and loved for generations to come.
