๐งฆ Will My Dog Need Surgery? | Foreign Body Edition
Dogs explore the world with their mouths.
Unfortunately, that sometimes includes socks, toys, rocks, corn cobs, underwear, hair ties, dish towels, and just about anything else they can fit between their teeth.
Signs your dog may have swallowed something they shouldn't:
๐พ Vomiting or trying to vomit
๐พ Loss of appetite
๐พ Abdominal pain or bloating
๐พ Lethargy or weakness
๐พ Diarrhea or difficulty passing stool
A foreign body can cause a blockage in the stomach or intestines and may quickly become a life-threatening emergency.
The sooner a problem is identified, the more treatment options may be available.
If you suspect your dog has eaten something they shouldn't, contact your veterinarian right away.
๐งก Foreign bodies can cause blockages, tearing, and serious complications.
๐ Early care can save lives.
๐ Surgery isn't always the answer, but knowing when to ask the question can make all the difference.
