🚨 A Reminder About the Hidden Risks of Leaving Female Pets Unspayed 🚨

We’ve treated TWO emergency pyometra cases in the last week alone.

Pyometra is a severe infection of the uterus that can develop suddenly in unspayed female dogs and cats. It is painful, life-threatening, and often requires emergency surgery and hospitalization. Unfortunately, many owners don’t realize how sick their pet is until the condition becomes critical.

Signs of pyometra may include:
🐾 Lethargy
🐾 Decreased appetite
🐾 Vomiting
🐾 Increased thirst or urination
🐾 Vaginal discharge
🐾 A swollen abdomen

Spaying completely prevents pyometra and also dramatically reduces the risk of mammary (breast) cancer, especially when performed before multiple heat cycles.

Spaying isn’t just about preventing unwanted litters—it’s one of the most important preventive health decisions you can make for your pet.

If your dog or cat has not been spayed and is showing any of the signs above, please contact your veterinarian as soon as possible.

Prevention is safer, easier, and far less expensive than emergency surgery. ❤️🐾
