So you want to add a puppy to your family and are considering GoodDog.com for finding a breeder because you believe all the breeders are vetted and it’s a secure place to choose a puppy. Firstly, this site charges the breeder 6.5% of the fee for every single puppy placed with a family. As a breeder I am going to pass that fee onto the family so an $1,800.00 puppy is now $2,000.00. Then good dog is going to charge the family an(up to $175.00+) “protect & support” fee which means if the adoption goes south they say they will “protect you” which for 6.5% should come free to the buyer. I have read reviews where this was NOT the case and gooddog did nothing. I have read reviews that Puppies arrive to the new adopting families home with Parvo, riddled with worms and fleas, dirty, and generally unhealthy. There are also a lot of nervous Nellies out there who run their puppies to the vet because they may be scratching a lot and breeders may have different vaccine programs that do not match what vets recommend so they make an unjustified claim on good dog, who says they come after the breeder for money. Additionally, no one has ever vetted me, no one came to my home to check out my breeding program or asked me to send in photos. I could actually have kennels stacked on top of each other in a hog barn in the filthiest condition and no potential adopting family or anyone from good dog would ever know. So in actuality, families will pay in excess of an additional $375.00 + (because if puppies are priced at $3500-$5000 that 6.5% is even more) for the same puppy only because they paid through the website which is taking in hundreds of thousands of dollars monthly for ‘saying’ they protect the buyer. The AKC only charges a 35.00 hosting fee to advertise AKC litters on their site. This business of charging such high fees for family pets makes me feel bad for people that are unaware how they are being fleeced. Adopt directly from a breeder and cut out high priced third party websites who charge huge fees for little in return. READ THEIR REVIEWS !!
