Our stone barn is considered a “banked barn”, which means that it is “banked” into the side of the hill and the bottom story only opens to one or two sides. Here, the lower level can only be seen from the west side, which has three entrances and at times through history, has been used for milking cows.

Why do we honk the horn?
It’s a simple way to call the calves in. Remind them that they have grain in the bunks and it’s time to eat. It’s getting harder this time of year as the grass tastes pretty good. When they stop coming in altogether, it will be time to move them to pasture in the Flint Hill. There were some stragglers today that never did belly up. We’re close. ❤️❤️

Finally! The last of the spring calves arrived last night. Mother and baby are doing fine. ❤️
