I was fully prepared to volunteer at Lawrence Humane Society again this year for Independence Day, but it looks like City of Lawrence, Kansas - Municipal Government is doing a drone show this year!

I understand folks missing fireworks and not being open to change, but this is a win for us! 4th of July in the pet industry is a heavy time. We have a lot of clients on vacation and a lot of scared pets. We know people will still be shooting them off around town but this is a small victory for animal lovers!

PS-there's lots of other towns around us that will still shoot off fireworks so no one will miss out!

The rockets’ red glare is going to be a little different in Lawrence this year. And bombs won’t be bursting in air.

Shout out to my husband Ben Poff, who has stepped up to run and be the face of Lawrence Pet Friends these last 2 months! While I've been on the injured reserve list, he's been my legs out in the field, handling issues, walking dogs, doing all the new client consultations, and more. 🐾🫶

Would I ever give up this much control without an injury? Probably not! 😂 But he's stepped up and rocked the last 2 months and will continue to do so until I'm healed and beyond. ❤️💪

Today is National Best Friends Day!! Celebrated annually on June 8th, it is a day dedicated to honoring the special bond we share with our closest friends. My 3 dogs just happen to be my best friends! I've spent so much time with them these past 2 months, while I've been injured. They've been my company, support, and nurses all while I've been stuck at home. 🫶🫂❤️🐾

Hello! I’m Shae. I’m a huge fan of animals and love having pets be a part of our lives. It’s a special thing to find our furry, scaly, or feathered friends to be our friends and stay by our sides always.

I, myself, have a cute and ornery brown kitty named Carl that was given to me from my grandmother’s farm. And she has quickly become my mini me, which is so cute… most days.

Tyen is a great older brother and will body block to protect Zeema from potential harm. They get super stressed out from being away from each other, so they are in the same kennel, which can be a bit cramped for the two of them! Our hearts hurt today, and we are sending all the love to as our sweet friend Cozmo passed away yesterday. He was so special and the best little man. Kitten season has arrived Lawrence Humane Society, and that means they are in need of kitten supplies and kitten fosters! Help them to stock up on much-needed supplies, enjoy drinks and snacks, play with kittens, make your own cat ears (!!!), and learn about fostering today from 4-8pm! You bring the kitten supplies (or $$ donation that allows us to purchase the supplies) and we'll provide the kittens, crafts, drinks, and food!
