😺😺😺Day 3! This week, PCAS is hosting our first-ever Pasco County Youth Animal Academy Summer Camp. 🏕️ Each day this week, our children are receiving unique, hands-on learning experiences in every aspect of life-saving animal sheltering.

🐕Today, our Animal Control Officers educated the campers about safe handling of an animal, how to humanely trap a nervous dog or cat, and tasks such as dispatch…

Our ACO team knocked it out of the park with Touch-A-Truck, interactive Q&A games, and the kids even got a cool DRONE DEMO! 🚀

Tomorrow we’ll spend the day with our Animal Care Team! Should we teach the kiddos how to clean kennels? 😹

Introducing Doug 🩵 He is one of the most gentle souls you'll ever meet.

Doug (A047256) is a 7 year old American Foxhound. Doug came to our shelter after a samaritan noticed him hanging around near his property for about a week. Sweet Doug was spotted coming in & out of the woods, and he found shelter sleeping under a car. 🥺

Doug is calm, dog social, and good with adults & children alike.

We brought Doug to our Bexley Market event a couple of weeks ago, where he greeted families and remained well behaved the entire time. Doug has also been an office foster, and he was recently given a bath - where he showed that he is docile & very tolerable with handling.

If you're looking for a sweet, chill companion, Doug is your guy!

✌🏼🐾 Day 2 of our Pasco County Youth Animal Academy Summer Camp! Today, our kiddos spent their day with our Veterinary Team.

Campers were immersed in learning experiences that included everything from how to snap pics on an X-ray machine and applying bandages on their own stuffed animals.

🩺 Our lead veterinarian, Dr. Christine Glenn, even invited the children who wanted to participate to observe a surgical procedure.

Pasco County Animal Services is proud to host our first-ever Summer Camp at our shelter. This is no ordinary experience. Each day brings hands-on learning and interaction with shelter dogs & cats. We hope that these children leave here enriched and inspired to care for & protect animals.

🏕️🐾Our Pasco County Youth Animal Academy Summer Camp officially kicked off today!

The first of its kind at a municipal shelter, PCAS is hosting the next generation of animal advocates this week.

🐶Today, our campers were introduced to shelter life thanks to our Community Partnerships & Programs Team.

🐱Through hands-on learning, the children interacted with kittens and spent time showing love to our pups. They also created kennel cards, went on a scavenger hunt, and crafted their very own “lost dog” flyer… these activities gave them real world experience on how to care for pets.

Each day this week, our littles will experience a different aspect of animal welfare. Tomorrow they will have an opportunity to shadow our Veterinary Staff!
