Pasco shared an announcement about one of their beloved Senior dogs who had not found a home yet or had not been rescued yet. He has passed away. π’π₯
"We have some difficult and heartbreaking news to share with you. Early Saturday morning, our sweet Renegade crossed over the Rainbow Bridge here at PCAS π
While we do our best to share positive inspiring moments and supportive educational information, it is equally important to us to share our truthβ¦ that sometimes stories donβt end the way we hope.
But Renegadeβs life mattered.
And telling his story matters.
Renegade was a sweet and lanky Great Dane. He was estimated to be over 10 years old. He came to us in January when his owner passed away - and with no one close to the owner willing to take Renegade in, we did.
During his time with us, Renegade touched us all with his goofball personality and a unique trot matching that of a show pony. In addition to his daily care and walks, he was an office foster and play group favorite during βsilver sneakersβ - where our gentle & senior dogs get to play together.
Renegade also spent the night snuggled in bed with volunteers Rhonda & Nancy during our Shelter Slumber βPawtyβ fundraiser.
As recent as a few days before his passing, Renegade received the honor of a photo shoot from Stronger Shot. He was beautiful, majestic, and his spirit was captured in such a special way.

Renegade deserved a better closing chapter. There is no doubt. He deserved a comfy couch instead of a kennel.
But he knew love here. He was deeply cared for by our staff⦠and he was especially loved by our volunteers. He was safe here, was given medical treatment, and he never had to worry about going hungry.
And for those who were part of his journey home, it was an honor that deserves to be recognized. Renegade knew love.

If you have made it this far into this post, thank you.
If you find yourself saying, βI would have adopted him ifβ¦β then all we ask is this: Please take a moment to search your heart. If it calls you to give a shelter dog (or cat) a safe haven, a soft place to land, a loving homeβ¦ then please come visit PCAS, or a shelter or rescue that touches you.
For Renegade. π€ and for those who still wait in hope."
