How do I keep my pet’s cool in this weather?

Summer is almost here, and your furry friend is feeling the heat!

💦 Hydration is key: Fresh water everywhere! A bowl, fountain, or even ice cubes as treats!
🌳 Shade & chill spots: Not all pets love the sun as much as you do. Cool, shady retreats = happy pets.
🐾 Timing matters: Early morning or late evening walks are the secret to avoiding hot paws and humidity!

💦 Splash & play: Kiddie pools, sprinklers, or a gentle hose spray make cooling fun AND safe.

Sound familiar? Here’s your vet-approved game plan:

1️. Call us, Poison Control, or your Emergency Vet immediately- time is everything when toxins are involved.
2️. Know what they ate: Packaging, plant name, or leftover chocolate stash. Those details help us act fast.
3️. Don’t DIY it: No inducing vomiting unless a vet says so. Some toxins are trickier than a cat in a bathtub.
4️. Stay calm & safe: Keep your pet contained and comfy while help is on the way.

✅ Emergency kit: food, water, meds, leash, carrier, and favorite snuggle toy
✅ ID + microchip = reunion guaranteed
✅ Plan your escape: shelters, hotels, and buddy system
✅ Practice drills. Calm pets = happy pets

Here’s how to help your pets adjust like the good boy/girl they are:
👶 Start early: Gradually introduce new sounds, scents, and routines. (Baby cries from YouTube are fair game!)
🏠 Keep their space sacred: Make sure they still have a cozy, calm zone to retreat to when life gets hectic.
💞 Reinforce the love: Don’t forget those cuddles and praise. A little reassurance goes a long way.
🐶 Practice makes perfect: Try short “training” sessions around baby gear or new routines so nothing feels brand new on day one.

Remember, change can be ruff! But with patience and prep, your pet will adjust beautifully. 💕

Another one of our fun Wednesday surprises!

Early in March we delivered these babies via emergency C-section. Mama cat and babies visited us recently and have been thriving. We love seeing these little girls grow and see more of their personalities.
