Another reminder as neighborhood fireworks are happening now !

1. Don't take your dog out anywhere there could be fireworks. Walk them earlier than usual for their last potty walks.
2. Don't leave your dog or cat outside in the yard . Walk them outside for potty on a slip type collar ( see below)
3. Walk your dog on a collar he/she CANNOT slip out of like a martingale or slip collar ; or use a slip lead.
4. Keep a leash on your dog in your home and keep him/her with you to avoid inadvertent escape ( dogs have been known to bust through screened or glass doors and windows when panicked).
If you are having a party , make sure your dog is in a secure room where doors are not being opened regularly.
5. Make sure your dog has a tag or collar with your current phone # and make sure Microchip is updated .
6. Even if your dog has never cared about fireworks in the past, as dogs age they often lose the part of their hearing that allows them to sense 'distance' so a sudden boom ( like fireworks or thunder) is even more frightening to them.
7. If you are using a dog walking service when you are away, please remind them to be extra careful and walk your dog early.
8. When driving anywhere slow down and watch for wild animals, too.......fireworks are not easy on them either .

Please plan now and be prepared .........they depend on you to keep them safe and protected .

So many dogs run away on July 4th. Please secure your babies safely inside during fireworks. Also consider canine CBD oil to keep them calm. Baron's K9 Country Store carries it.
