If anyone has any information regarding this dog attack on a young child please call the Harford County Sheriff’s Office. This is such a tragic story

Update March 18, 2025: Thank you to the members of the community that assisted us in this important investigation and for everyone that shared our message. Yesterday, the owner of the dog involved called our Animal Control Unit and made arrangements to meet with them this morning. We were able to speak with owner and observe the dog in his home. The owner is cooperating with all safety and quarantine requirements Animal Control is placing on the dog.

Animal Control Investigates Dog Attack

[March 15, 2025, Bel Air, MD] A 4-year-old boy is recovering after being seriously injured in a dog attack. Members of the Harford County Animal Control Unit of the Harford County Sheriff’s Office is actively investigating the attack and searching for the dog and the owner.

On March 11, 2025, Animal Control Officers were called to investigate an incident that led to the young child being the victim of a dog attack. Our initial investigation indicates that at approximately, 5:30 pm, the boy was with his father on the playground in the area of Mayfield Drive and Marcie Court when, for reasons still unknown, a leashed dog began an attack on the child, during a consensual encounter. The child was transported by Harford County EMS to the hospital for treatment of his injuries and has since been released.

At this time, the search to locate the dog and owner is still active. The dog is believed to be a German Shepherd mix, with a male owner, who lives in the adjacent neighborhood. Time is of the essence, and anyone with information or video evidence that could aid in this investigation is urged to please call Harford County Animal Control at 410-638-3505.

Two years ago I decided that I would slowly start building a pet care business. I started with one family who needed me for their older dog only when they went out of town, one person who needed me to scoop their yard weekly, and one family who needed me a couple of days a week to scoop their yard and let their pups out to potty and play. I wasn’t marketing myself at this point, only responding to search posts if I felt the job would be a good fit. My business started picking up when two wonderful clients of mine made posts about me on facebook and two other pet care providers referred me to people they weren’t able to service. At that point I decided to pick out a business name and role with it.
This week is my first week of having a full schedule of regular weekly clients. I am booked from 10:00-2:30 Monday through Friday which has been my goal for a few months now.
I want to thank each and every one of you who have used my services, or recommended me to someone. I truly appreciate everyone who has supported me through this journey. I look forward to caring for many more pets in the future.
Side note: there was no way I could post a photo of every pet I care for, so I posted my weekly regulars.

Please be careful, especially if you’re out hiking or in a place where you can get close to wildlife. Also be careful when dealing with stray dogs and cats. Please call the proper agencies if you suspect they are acting off.

Good morning H@H family!

As you may have seen, we made a detailed post back on October 30th (it’s pinned on our page) about the rise in Rabies cases within the past few months. Unfortunately, there continue to be new cases almost weekly adding at least 4 to the growing total.

As of November 16th, Harford County has had 20+, Baltimore County has had 15+, and Cecil County has had 4+ confirmed cases. Within the entire state of Maryland, there have been 203+ confirmed cases*. The majority of the cases are raccoons 🦝 which are high in population in our area.

Again, PLEASE make sure your pets are up-to-date on their vaccines. If you or your pet have come into contact with a wild animal, please contact your county’s health department as soon as possible. You can check out our previous post for contact details and other important information. You can reference this chart for more information - we hope it is updated frequently to reflect accurate numbers. They will be $7 for a bag or buy four bags and get the fifth bag free. I won't take payment until they are ready for delivery, but wanted to gauge interest.
