Important Boarding Update - Please Read
Effective July 1

As my business continues to grow, I have reached capacity limitations that require some changes to ensure I can continue providing quality care for all guests.

• Daycare services will no longer be available.
• Boarding checkout time will be 10:00 AM.

This allows me adequate time to clean and sanitize accommodations, prepare for incoming guests, and safely manage arrivals and departures. When dogs remain past checkout time, it also prevents me from accommodating scheduled arrivals later that day.

Late checkout fees:
• Pickup after 10:00 AM: + $15/dog
• Pickup after 4:00 PM: Additional night of boarding ($30/dog)

REMINDER
For the health and safety of all dogs in my care, vaccinations must be completed a minimum of 10 days before boarding.
No exceptions will be made for last minute vaccinations.

Peanut butter… dogs LOVE it. And yes—it can be a great tool.

But here’s where I see people go wrong 👇

It’s not meant to be an everyday, packed-full Kong, lick mat, “keep them busy” staple.

I see a lot of dogs getting peanut butter daily… sometimes multiple times a day… stuffed, layered, frozen, refilled. That adds up fast.

Peanut butter is very calorie-dense and high in fat.
Too much can lead to:
• Weight gain
• Digestive upset
• Pancreatitis in sensitive dogs

It’s not just a treat—it’s more like a supplement or tool. Big difference.

👉 A good rule of thumb:
• Small dogs: about ½ teaspoon to 1 teaspoon
• Medium dogs: about 1–2 teaspoons
• Large dogs: about 1 tablespoon max

And that’s not every day.

If you’re using Kongs or lick mats regularly, rotate:
✔ Plain Greek yogurt
✔ Pumpkin
✔ Mashed banana
✔ Hydrated kibble or fresh food

Now let’s talk about what KIND matters ⬇️

You want:
✔ Peanuts only (or peanuts + salt)
✔ No added sugars
✔ No hydrogenated oils
✔ No fillers

🚨 ABSOLUTELY NO XYLITOL (birch sugar) — this is toxic and can be fatal even in small amounts.

Also something most people don’t think about—quality matters. Lower-quality peanut butters can have mold toxins (aflatoxins), especially if poorly sourced.

Bottom line…

Peanut butter is fine.
But it should be used intentionally—not automatically.

Your dog doesn’t need it every day… and honestly, they’ll value it more when they don’t get it all the time.

APL has 7 licensed veterinarians on staff. Our mobile units are modern stainless steel surgery suites. Surgery fees include a pain injection, an antibiotic injection and all dogs go home wearing an e-collar. Remember, dogs should come on leashes (NOT THE RETRACTABLE KIND) and cats must come in carriers.
