Last but certainly not least is Dr. Wilcox's favorite technician—but don't tell the rest of the team! Matt fills in as needed whenever someone takes a well-deserved day off, so you'll see him around the clinic a few days each week.

Matt has been working in veterinary medicine since he was just 16 years old, giving him more than 20 years of experience. He is a Certified Veterinary Assistant Level II and previously worked as an ICU nurse at Oklahoma State University's Veterinary Teaching Hospital, where he developed a passion for caring for critically ill patients.

When he's not at the clinic, Matt enjoys reading, playing Dungeons & Dragons, working on his 1996 Bronco, and traveling with his wife, Dr. Wilcox, and their 8-month-old daughter, Arwen Mae. His favorite part of veterinary medicine is building lasting relationships with both clients and their pets, and he's always happy to lend a helping hand wherever he's needed.

Tammy has been caring for pets at Kilgore Small Animal Hospital for many years, with a history at the clinic that goes back to well before Dr. Ray. As one of our dedicated kennel technicians, she helps ensure every patient is comfortable, well cared for, and feels loved during their stay with us.

When she's not at the clinic, Tammy enjoys working outside, cooking, and spending time with the people and pets she loves most. She shares her home with her two dogs, Ho**er and Dede, and treasures every opportunity to be with her children.

Tammy's caring heart, strong work ethic, and years of experience make her an important part of our team. Whether she's caring for our boarding pets or helping patients feel safe and comfortable, she always goes the extra mile to make them feel right at home.

TECH OF DAY: JESSICA

Jessica joined the Kilgore Small Animal Hospital family in 2024 after spending several years at our sister clinic in Henderson, where she began her veterinary career in 2021. She has a special love for surgery and enjoys being part of the team that helps patients receive the best care from start to finish.

When she's not at the clinic, you'll likely find Jessica and her husband, Scott, out exploring in their RV with their adorable Brussels Griffon, Miles. Nothing makes her happier than spending time with their five children and their grandbabies.

If you've met Jessica, you've probably noticed her fun, sassy personality right away. She loves to laugh, keeps her coworkers smiling, and brings positive energy wherever she goes. Behind that quick wit is a compassionate heart and a genuine love for caring for animals and supporting the families who love them. Tech of the Day: ALAINA

Alaina has been a valued member of our team close to 10 years, and her dedication to our patients and clients shines through every day. She and her husband have a son and two daughters, and when she's away from the clinic, she enjoys spending time with her family and playing golf with her husband.

Alaina's favorite patients are cats, and she's definitely not afraid of a spicy one! Whether it's a nervous feline or a truly feral cat, she's our resident feral cat wrangler and handles them with confidence, skill, and compassion. Her experience, sense of humor, and love for her patients make her an invaluable part of our team, and we're so thankful to have her!

Meet Leeann, one of our amazing veterinary technicians!

Ever since she was a little girl, Leeann knew she wanted to work with animals because of her enormous love for them. Today, she's living that dream as a veterinary technician, helping care for and save animals every day. She treats every pet that comes through our doors with the same love and compassion she gives her own.

When she's not at the clinic, you'll likely find her out fishing or spending time with her family. She and her husband have been together for 12 years, and together they're raising their 11-year-old son, who shares her love for animals.

We're so grateful to have Leeann on our team. Thank you for your dedication, compassion, and the exceptional care you provide to every pet and their family! ❤️🐾

One of the most valuable things you can teach your dog is to happily load into the car on command.

The biggest lie ever told?
"This cat is free." 😹

We've all done it.

🐈 Found a "free" kitten.
❤️ Fell completely in love.
💸 Then somehow spent thousands of dollars keeping that "free" cat happy and healthy.

Vaccines. Spays/neuters. Flea prevention. Fancy food. Cat trees. Scratching posts. Emergency 2 a.m. vet visits because they ate something they definitely shouldn't have.

That "free" cat quickly becomes priceless.

And honestly? We'd do it all over again.
