Stinky and Stanky…..
I brought these little guys home from work, to keep them out of a very full shelter. They were in terrible condition that I knew needed TLC, not the shelter environment.
Stinky tested positives for Sarcoptic mange. Treated with antibiotics, medicated baths, and flea and tick prevention.
Stanky had concerning symptoms from the day of pickup. He was vomiting. They both got a parvo test at their first appointment, negative. But this symptom continued every time Stanky was fed. He regurgitated every meal and was losing weight. He visited the vet for an another checkup, including a f***l. All was well there as I had treated for worms and other potential parasites at intake. But it was discovered that Stanky had a heart murmur. I scheduled him for a ultrasound with a specialist to confirm
what we suspected, a heart issue that was affecting his ability to eat,he was to see that vet on Tuesday.
Unfortunately sweet little Stanky didn’t make it, he laid down in his bed and went to sleep. His young, frail body just gave out.
I have fostered so many babies, and have only ever lost 3. I’m glad that Stanky knew love and care in his last days. His life was so short, and clearly rough most of his days.
You can prevent the suffering of innocent lives, by spaying and neutering your pets.
So many puppies do not need to be born to suffer. Through illness, through hunger, through exposure to the elements, through neglect.
RIP Stanky. Your brother is headed to Michigan to live a full life for both of you. 🌈
