Happy National Black Cat Day! Regional Animal Services have let us know that Elvira is in queue for a spay and will be considered one of our barn cats. Welcome to the family Elvira. 🤟🏻 our other black cat rescue Lydia says welcome.

I did it!! After trapping our own barn cats twice, catching one of the dad cats (& he bent the metal of the trap and escaped immediately Bummer!) and catching a young raccoon (terrifying - story about that I’ll post later)
Elvira, aka the mama kitty, watched every one of them get trapped and was far too smart. She was hungry though and let me pet her. Today I got brave and scruffed her and put her in a carrier. I was so scared btw. I didn’t actually think I was going to be successful but I Did it!! She is getting spayed and vaccinated. We will know in 5 days if she gets to come back here.
Her kittens were all adopted already. :)

Well, a stray mama brought us a surprise yesterday. Initially found in our wood pile and traveled to our dry storage area. We were able to catch the 3 kittens last night and bring them to RASKC today. Corbin has called them Huey Dewey & Louis but we don’t know their genders … if you’re looking for a trio of barn cats please let RASKC in Kent WA know you’re interested & if you get them please let us know too. (Corbin is so very concerned that they won’t find a home). We’ve offered to take the Mama kitty back to be with the rest of our TNR cats here - we are still trying to trap her though she is smart and evading all our attempts so far.

In case you’re wondering what Jack and Sally are potentially having for Thanksgiving!

It was 107° and yet they were still so fun for our Donald Duck to meet.

Went to Disneyland for a couple blistering hot 100 degree days and came back to 60degrees of my own wonderland. It’s zucchini, grape, tomato, onion, dahlia season with a hidden Mickey in a 4leaf clover. 🍀

According to the Internet: If you encounter a praying mantis, it may be a reminder to slow down, be mindful, trust your instincts, and prepare for positive change. Listen to your intuition, practice patience, and embrace transformation as part of your journey

In some cultures, spotting a praying mantis is a sign of upcoming fortune, success, and rewards for perseverance

Across civilizations, it’s seen as a symbol of change, prophecy, and heightened awareness

Gardeners in 2026 smiling a little happier than usual; bc our jalapeños, blueberries, lettuce and ducks eggs aren’t going to give us a crappy summer.

The new duckies were released to the bigger area to explore. So far Dorothy and Rose are getting along with them, just waiting for our Drake Otho to chill out. They like putting everything in their mouths, typical toddlers and they’ve figured out where the feeder box is. :) they are 8 weeks old now.
