Highly recommend Hell or High Water Farm if you’re looking for an internship!

Farm intern for four farms on the same land

Location:
A farm near Enumclaw, WA, shared by four commercial farms is seeking an intern for the 2025 growing season to help produce sustainably grown vegetables, cut flowers, pastured eggs and poultry.

Who We're Looking For:
We’re seeking a motivated individual eager to gain hands-on experience in commercial, small-scale, sustainable farming. The ideal candidate is excited to learn, works well both independently and as part of a team, enjoys outdoor work in all weather conditions, and can manage a variety of tasks and is able to stay for the entire season, Mar-Nov

Requirements:
- Valid driver’s license
- Non-smoking/vaping
- Ability to lift 40+ lbs
- Willingness to operate farming equipment
- No pets; we have working livestock guardian dogs and farm cats on premises

What You’ll Be Doing:
You will work closely with Hell or High Water Farm, occasionally with two other farms, and will assist at least once a week with Cart before Horse Farm.

Tasks will include:
- Direct seeding, seedling propagation, and tunnel growing
- Weeding, planting, and applying organic amendments, mulch, wood chips, and compost
- Harvesting vegetables and flowers
- Post-harvest handling of vegetables and flowers
- Rotational grazing and pasture management
- Poultry brooder management
- Care of pastured poultry and egg handling
- Carpentry and fence building/repair
- Tractor and small equipment operation
- Working with livestock guardian dogs
- Poultry processing
- Occasionally participate in farm meetings
- Farmers' market retail sales, as needed

You will develop practical skills and knowledge while working alongside experienced farmers. You will also have opportunities to attend local workshops and classes in the community. Additionally, we offer access to a farming book and resource library, and we encourage discussions on farming topics. There is an office/library and a toilet in the big barn.

Stipend and Hours:
- Monthly stipend: $1,200
- Approximate hours: 30 per week

Accommodation:
A furnished, pristine 1994 camper van with a bath, shower, kitchen, and two beds (ideal for one person or a couple).*note that we prefer an individual and if you are a couple then the 30 hours would be shared. Power, water and dump fees included. The camper will remain on the farm, with guidance provided on upkeep.

During your time off, you can enjoy downtown Enumclaw, just 8 minutes away, or explore the nearby attractions, including Seattle, Tacoma, Puget Sound, Mt. Rainier National Park, and the Cascade Mountains—all within an hour’s drive.

Perks:
- Pastured eggs, fresh vegetables, and flowers from the farm
- Lunch provided on harvest days
- Bonus incentives for excellent work
- BBQ potlucks with other farmers every month

Timeframe:
March-November 2025, with potential for longer-term accommodation and limited hours.

If you’re passionate about farming and motivated to gain experience in sustainable and organic farming practices, we encourage you to apply!

Instead of farming this summer we are doing home renovations to our new house! We have been in our home for maybe six weeks and have updating lighting, sinks, paint colors, the garage door and most importantly a giant fan for our bedroom lol. Three days after moving in our garage door broke so that was a fun little “welcome to home ownership” surprise lol We are slowly getting the house organized and comfortable. It’s been a good change in pace!

I’m not sure exactly what the next chapter is going to fully look like…. But starting off we are super excited to have the privilege of buying our first home. It feels odd not waking up on a farm anymore but I can’t wait to add flower beds and maybe a garden at some point. Im excited for what this summer is going to bring 🙌🏽

Thank you for the last ten years! It’s was an amazing ride but a new adventure awaits 🌱 💚 Until next time 🫶🏽

We made the hard decision that farmers markets are not in the cards for 2024. When setting out to farm I never dreamed of working with such an amazing organization that helped farms grow and establish their business. Trust me this was the hardest decision but for work life balance markets just did not make sense for us as a business anymore. Thank you for seven amazing season! We will miss you a lot 😢

It’s been a minute since I shared much going on in my life here. With 12 unplanned flights to and from Nashville due to family emergencies/family time and $80,000 worth of crops (almost everything we grew) damaged by elk 2023 closed out to being the worst year of my life. But there were moments like moving to our new space and growing some amazing veggies that were highlights in a dark gloomy year.
Last year my mom and I were supposed to go to our first “away” game together in Nashville on Christmas Eve. With her sudden passing I ruled that idea out. Little did I know between my sister and a good customer friend I happened to make it to Nissan Stadium to see that game and bring mom’s jersey with me. My sister and I even happened to make it on National TV 👀🤭.
Even tho 2024 is supposed to be our 10th season of feels like our first financial. We lost everything last season and with moving to a bigger space our bills skyrocketed. With no financial help from insurance what we can afford to grow and at what scale still seems to be a day to day conversation. We appreciate all the support over the years by each and every customer or support.
Here is to the 2024 Season!
