Our VERY FIRST Back-to-School Horse Camp was this week! 🐴💛 We are so proud and happy to have been able to offer this wonderful opportunity to several kiddos and introduce them to all things horses!
Throughout the week, our campers learned how to groom and bathe horses, tons of important horse knowledge and safety, and even how to safely fall off a horse through a fun barrel exercise! They played relays and games, worked together as a team, and, of course, spent lots of time learning to ride.
In the saddle, the kids gained confidence while learning the basics of riding, balance, coordination, and teamwork. Watching their confidence grow throughout the week was so much fun. It’s safe to say they all had an amazing time—and they definitely fell in love with horses! 🥰🐎
Each day included specific learning activities & crafts outside of the saddle! 🐴
Monday: We decorated drawstring backpacks and learned about some of the muscles of the horse using a horse skeleton. Then, we took what we learned out to Monte to see where those muscles are located on a real horse!
Tuesday: We decorated horse shoes to make keepsake photo frames of their first horse camp, tried on chaps, and played lots of fun games—including designing our very own “dream horses.” ✨
Wednesday: We made pool noodle horses and had races! We also learned the differences between English and Western saddles, practiced labeling and memorizing the parts of a saddle, and learned the basic body parts of a horse.
Thursday: We got creative and let the kiddos decorate their horses with paint and ribbons to get them ready for our special Parents Parade! 🎨🎀🐴 The kids were so excited to show off their horses and share everything they had learned throughout the week with their parents.
During the parade, each camper got the chance to show and tell their parents what they had learned and, of course, show off all of their new riding skills! They demonstrated their confidence, balance, coordination, and control on horseback through several fun riding games, including Cup Game, Ring Toss, Ball in the Bucket, Egg & Spoon, and Water Cup! 🥚🥤🎯
It was such a fun way to wrap up the week and gave the kids a chance to be proud of just how much they had learned and accomplished in only a few days. Seeing them confidently ride, play their games, and share their new horse knowledge with their families made for a pretty special ending to camp. 💕
A week full of horses, learning, laughter, confidence, friendships, and memories! We are so proud of every one of our campers and loved getting to share the joy of horses with them. 💕
