Summer is officially here!! Time for bbq's, water activities, summer sports and fun in the sun. Although summer is a great time to be outside to enjoy the fresh air the high heat and humidity days can bring dangers to humans and animals.
Please take extra precautions, for your pets and yourself, with the extreme summer heat and humidity!!
Below are some quick tips for animal heat safety tips and some good reading articles on summer safety and heatstroke.

1. Keep pets indoors when possible
2. Never leave a pet in a parked car
3. Limit outdoor exercise to early morning or evening times -avoid long walks, hikes and excessive play
4. Apply sunscreen to white ears and noses )
5. Take extra precautions with short-nosed dog breeds
6. Protect against hot pavement on walks
7. Play in the sprinklers or a kiddie pool
8. Provide ample shade and fresh water to pets that stay outside

Many more shout outs are deserved there just isn't enough room. However the biggest shout out goes to in our opinion, the best veterinarian around...Dr. Leighr.
We appreciate him not only today but every day!!
Being a mixed animal veterinary he has to put on a multitude of different hats at the drop of a dime. He has to handle different species in a day. He performs his own surgeries on multiple species, he does urgent and emergency care as they arrive throughout the day as he goes room to room taking care of his scheduled appointments, all while taking care of business things to keep his independently owned business running smooth. Not only do us employees appreciate his talent, knowledge and work ethic we appreciate each other and our clients. Without each other to rely on to keep efficiency running and our client's continual support and understanding, we would not be the clinic we are proud of today!
