Timi gets asked about her hand placement with barrel horses frequently. Now, she’s sharing the basic movements and hand positions she introduces with each horse. 👆

Having your hands in the right place at the right time is vital in a fast-paced sport like barrel racing. Timi has learned a lot over the years just by watching other barrel racers compete, and taking note of what they do with their hands. In clinics, she always recommends playing with various hand placements during slow work. Learning what motions activate certain parts of your horse’s body is a skill that is often overlooked, and you can build consistency with it by repeating the same movements every time you ride.

Our geldings take begging for sweet treats to a new level! 🍪😂

Positive reinforcement is huge in our training program, so we give every horse lots of cookies when we work with them. Roger (FTF Canmans Jet) and Dennis (Can Of Pepper Jet) are full brothers, and they love to beg for treats more than any of our other horses! Ryan rides both of them when he team ropes — Roger when he’s heeling, and Dennis when heading. They’re doing well right now in training and we’re excited to watch them continue to grow. 🤎

Timi is collaborating with DaCota Monk! 🤝✨

After attending his amazing clinics over the past two summers, Timi knew she wanted to collab with DaCota on training a young horse. With our program and his using such similar styles of training, this partnership feels like an amazing opportunity to learn from one another and grow together!

While he was staying with us in June, DaCota got to ride both of our three-year-olds, and he chose Helena (Flash n Dash Millie by Dash Ta Fame) to come train with him. This filly has shown incredible promise over the last year, and we can’t wait to see what she’ll accomplish with DaCota’s expert guidance. Helena will head to Texas soon, but she’s going to continue training with Timi in the meantime. We’re excited to partner with an incredible trainer like DaCota, and hope this partnership continues for years to come!

Y’all know we love our feisty fillies — and Stevie (EdgeOfSeventeen) is no exception! 😂

One of our favorite parts of training is when the two and three-year-olds start developing their individual personalities more. Stevie has such a sassy, spunky attitude, but underneath she’s a total sweetheart! 🤎 She’s improved so much in her training over the last few months, and we know she’s bound to be something special like her other Goodbye Lane siblings.

Bandee Winn and Brittney Waddell asked: “What’s one piece of advice you would tell your younger self about horse training?” 🤠

After over 30 years of training horses, Timi has learned a lot (sometimes the hard way) about how to be a better trainer. Horses have a funny way of showing us what we need to work on in ourselves, and the biggest lesson they’ve taught Timi is to have patience! It’s easy to lose sight of your goals when you’re always in a hurry to get there, but she’s learned that working diligently and being patient with your horses and yourself makes achieving those goals easier in the long run. Having patience can be so challenging in a world where instant gratification has become the norm, but it’s a valuable lesson that we wouldn’t trade for anything! 🏆

We went off the grid last week! 🏔️🐴

There’s nothing better than getting an opportunity to get out into nature and reconnect with our loved ones. Last week, we packed into the Frank Church Wilderness between Idaho and Montana with Hunter Aitken — and it was truly a once in a lifetime experience! There were moments where it was way tougher than we expected it to be, but we had a blast and the beautiful scenery was well worth the trek. We hiked, fished, and rode horses all week, and while we’re still very body sore today, we had a fantastic time regardless! 🎣🥾🌲

Shae Human asked us: “What is your best horse, favorite horse, and most successful horse you trained?” 🛢️

While Hez All Rock will always be Timi’s favorite horse, there are lots of other horses that saw success during and after training with her. From W***y B. Famous taking rodeo wins to He’s Furious and MJ Fly By Lane crushing it at the futurity level, there have been so many stellar horses that we’ve had the privilege of working with over the years.

She’s gorgeous from all angles! This is Adele (RL RollingInTheDeep)! 🤎

Adele is one of our four year old fillies that we’re planning to futurity in 2027. She’s out of The Goodbye Lane and Zacalo (Tres Seis), and owned by Whitley Sharp and Jared Sharp. She’s also a full sister to Abbey Road, who we futuritied last year and is also owned by Whitley!

Unfortunately, about 2 weeks ago, Adele accidentally hit the step going into our trailer and split the skin open near her tendon. She’s been healing up beautifully at home with the Sharp Sports Medicine team, and we’re feeling hopeful that she’ll be able to resume her training with Timi by September. Adele is a superstar in the making just like her sisters, so we can’t wait to see her back in action soon. 🤕

It’s our new favorite game show — Guess That Horse!! 🎊🐴

We saw this challenge and Timi just had to try it for herself. Turns out, guessing your own horses while blindfolded is WAY harder than it looks! 😅 It may not have been easy, but we had a ton of fun filming this.
