Ticks are seen year around, but their numbers are even greater this time of year!

Ticks can be found predominantly in areas with little or no tree cover, such as grassy fields and scrubland, as well as along walkways and trails. Check your pet regularly especially on their legs, belly, armpits, and paws after outside activities.

To prevent your dog from being bitten, keep your dog on a leash to avoid free roaming since snakes like tall grasses and brushes. They like to sunbathe in shadeless areas like rockpiles or the trail you are hiking.

Sings your dog has been struck by a rattlesnake include two separate puncture wounds with increased bleeding, excessive swelling, obvious pain, weakness and neurologic abnormalities.

A rattlesnake bite is considered a medical emergency. Immediately remove your dog away from the snake and transport to a ER facility right away for treatment.
