🌾 Cheat Grass Season Is Here – Protect Your Pets! 🐾

As temperatures rise, so does the risk of cheat grass (downy brome) injuries in pets. These dry, barbed seed heads can attach to fur and migrate into ears, eyes, noses, paws, and even under the skin, causing pain, infection, and sometimes requiring surgical removal.

⚠️ Watch for signs such as:
• Excessive sneezing
• Head shaking or ear scratching
• Limping or licking at paws
• Eye redness or discharge
• Swelling or draining tracts on the skin

✅ Prevention tips:
• Avoid areas with heavy cheat grass growth
• Keep pets on designated trails
• Check your pet thoroughly after outdoor activities
• Brush and groom regularly, especially long-haired breeds

Early detection can prevent serious complications. If you notice any of these symptoms, contact your veterinarian promptly.
