Fawn's Small Dog Rescue FSDR is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization, we are a 100% volunteer and foster based.

Our mission is to save abused, forgotten, homeless and neglected dogs in Jacksonville, FL and the surrounding areas.

Adoptable dog alert, meet Mia! She's a Cavalier Spaniel with a terrific tricolor coat. She's estimated to be 6 years old and is about 24 lbs. She's spayed, heartworm negative, and up-to-date on vaccines and monthly prevention.

More about Mia:
- Adults and kids 7+ yrs
- Solo dog or siblings, ignores cats
- Fenced yard preferred to continue potty training success

Marvelous Mia is a laid back dog who loves her people. She's a sweetheart who adores cuddling. Her foster feels she'd do well as a family dog and she's rated for kids 7+. Her ideal home has a fenced yard for easy potty breaks and play time.

Mia prefers people to dogs and cats, she lives with another foster dog and a feline friend. She doesn't go out of her way to interact with either of them. She happiest when she gets all of her foster's attention and snuggles.

Mia is ready for her fur-ever family. Her ideal home is with people who're home frequently, she'd be a lovely addition to a family. She'd love to have a yard for play time and to continue her house and potty training success. She'd be happy to be an only child and soak up all of your love and attention. She'd also be fine sharing a home with a respectful dog sibling and confident cat friends.

8/30 UPDATE: Well our boy Benz is a fighter! Blood work that was repeated at the ER overnight showed a small elevation in his liver values. That was a little bit concerning. His fever finally broke and he began to start taking food in the early morning hours. All good signs. Blood work was repeated again this morning, and the liver values started decreasing, which was the way they wanted it to go. So he was responding well to the IV medications, including antibiotics, anti nausea, and anti diarrhea. With everything going in the right direction, Dr. Timberlake sent him home with many medications to keep him on the road to recovery. No true diagnosis was made. However, it is suspected that he had a bacterial infection that inflamed his GI tract. She believes that the bacteria began entering his bile duct causing the liver values to increase slightly. He is still a very tired boy. With his ravenous appetite and care from Bridget, his temporary medical foster mom, he should be back to his playful self in no time. Thank you to Dr. Timberlake and staff @ V.E.G. ER Hospital for taking great care of Benz and our rescuel and of course to everyone that has contributed to his $3200+ vet bill. We can't help these babies without your support.

UPDATE: 3:15PM OUR BOY Benz is very sick. Your donations are vey much appreciated to save his life. He is being admitted to the ER and staying the night as they need to monitor him. He has a high fever. X-rays show no blockages. No parasites. No toxins. Bloodwork has the doctor concerned that he is going into sepsis. They have him on antibiotics, fluids and medications for anti-nausea and anti-diarrhea. They will continue to monitor his bloodwork as his liver values were a little elevated. We know he is being well taken care. Please continue praying for Benz. He is a happy-go-lucky boy and loves to cuddle. He is a super special boy.

I am hoping we can post some happy adoption posts soon however this morning I received calls from two foster moms that their dogs need ER visits....Hope is okay....a bit deydrated from the antibiotics she was receiving from her spay surgery. She hadn't eaten or drank and was very lethargic. She received fluids and meds and is expected to be okay.

We are once again asking for your help...this time for Benz. He was under the weather yesterday, not being his playful self and would not eat or drink. He began vomiting this morning. He is at Veternarian Emergency Group (V.E.G.) now in critical condition receiving fluids and diagnostics. We will update when we have more info. His current vet expense is $1100. Meet Mimi! She's a Lhasa Apso/Yorkie mix with a charming silver, tan and brown coat. She's 5 years old and about 11 lbs. She's spayed, heartworm negative, and up-to-date on vaccines and monthly prevention.

About Mimi:
- Small dog and kid friendly
- Doggie sibling preferred
- Fenced yard recommended

One in a million Mimi is a well socialized dog, a friendly girl, and playful princess. She adores people of sizes, cats are unknown, and she loves other small dogs. This sweetie LOVES playing with her foster dog sisters!

Mimi and her foster sisters chase each other around the house and in yard. She has the cutest little growl and bark when she's being playful. They'll happily share toys, the squeakier the better, and they'll even share a communal food bowl. They do some basic training together and everyone is happy to wait their turn for treats.

Mimi is doing great with house, potty, and leash training. She'll happily follow her doggie siblings to the yard to go potty. She's always delighted to play in the yard and enjoys sunbathing as well. She's loves going for walks and does very well on a leash. She also good with car rides.

Magnificent Mimi is ready for a home to call her own. She'd do best with at least similarly sized doggie friend, especially if you're out and about during of the day. This playful princess is kid friendly, has been tested with 7 yr/olds. She's doing great with house, potty, and leash training; a fenced yard is recommended to continue to her potty training success.

UPDATE ON 4 OF THE BYB/PM DOGS

CLOVER: She had her vet exam om Friday 8/13 and during her exam, doctor Gutta found that she had pyometra, which is a life threatening uterine infection. She was not showing any signs of distress. She was scheduled for surgery monday morning 8/17. Now that she is feeling so much better her foster mom Jenny Giordano says her personality has completely changed from how she was before her surgery, where she was most likely in pain. After she recovers fully, she will be scheduled for a dental to take care of the infection in her mouth.

HOPE: Wednesday night I got a call from Hope's foster mom, Marti, Hope was not feeling well most of the day. She was very lethargic and not eating or drinking. Early Thursday morning before her vet appointment she was vomiting. At the vet appointment test results showed she had pyometra, which is a life threatening uterine infection. She was scheduled for surgery the next morning. During surgery, it was discovered that she was pregnant with 8 stillborn puppies. This poor sweet baby. She only weighs 10 lbs. Since emergency surgery, she is recovering nicely. No more puppies sweet girl.

NORM: He was scheduled for a very extensive surgery yesterday. He had a very large hernia and a restrained testicle. During neuter surgery, Dr. Mike at Full Circle Animal Hospital in Callahan, noticed that the spleen had fallen way down into the hernia. The testicle that had not dropped was attached to the spleen. Surgery was 4.5 hours. He is stitched up with staples and sutures. He stayed overnight at the vets office. He is home now with his foster mom, Kim Miller, who is taking great care of him through recovery. He will have a follow up in 10 days to remove the staples. Thank you Dr. Mike at Full Circle Animal Hospital for taking such great care of Norm.

ZELDA: Zelda is our female Boston Terrier that we were told was weaned when we got her 2 weeks ago. Her t***s were full and she was expressing milk. She went to the vet and had routine bloodwork done during her exam. Well, to our surprise, this morning Zelda's foster mom Sarah, called us to let us know Zelda is a mom again, to 3 puppies. She is doing great and taking great care of them. She and the puppies will all be going to the vet, of course.

We are so thankful to everybody who has stepped up to help these dogs! Your donations have made a difference in their lives. We're not done yet. We have three more babies that need to go to the vet. We still have dogs that need to have expensive dentals for the infections in their mouths, and we could really use your financial support. Ten days ago we took in 13 BYB (backyard breeder)/puppy mill dogs...3 males and 10 females. Here is a brief update on all the beautiful fur babies...

Monroe is a 3 yr old Shih Tzu. She was treated for ear infections at her exam and a life threatening inguinal hernia was found. She had surgery the next morning to repair the hernia and was spayed. We almost lost her...our vet couldnt believe she was still alive. She is doing fabulous now. She is playing with other dogs and beginning to trust people.

Hope is a 6-7 yr old F ShihTzu. She was treated for ear infections and a very deep gash on the back of her neck that was infected. She too is healing and beginning to thrive. They are both super cute.

Zelda, our still lactating mama Boston Terrier, had bloodwork done wich revealed she was anemic. She was ordered supplements and is receiving baths multiple times a week to treat her infected skin. She will be spayed soon.l

Stevie Wonder is our blind male ShihTzu. At his initial exam he was treated for ear infections. He goes to the vet twice this week for a dental and neuter. In Sept he will be seen by an eye specialist for his really bad eye. He is currently receiving eyedrops for dry eye. Stevie loves to follow his foster mom everywhere and loves to play "can you find me?"

Poppy is female ShihTzu about 4 yrs young and missing one eye and extremely limited vision in the other eye. She was treated for skin infection. She ishe is giving tail wags and loves the kids. Her foster mom says shes an angel.

Norm is another male Boston about 3-4yrs who has a hernia and a restrained testicle. He will be having surgery on Thursday to repair the hernia while being neutered. He is very uncertain of people at first and would rather approach you then you approaching him.

Clover is 4-5 yr old female Schnauzer. She was treated for ear infections at time of exam. She was also diagnosed with Pyometra, a severe, life-threatening infection of the uterus that happens in unspayed female dogs. She was spayed today and is recovering.

Maddie, our 5yr female Frenchie, was treated for a severe ear infection at her first exam. Her foster dad adores her. She will be spayed next week.

Cece is a blind Maltese who is still shy but curious about her surroudings. She had a dental with 4 extractions and will be spayed 8/25.

Mia is a female cavalier who also had a dental and 5 extractions. She will also be spayed on 8/25. She seems to be adjusting well being in a home.

Nina is a 4 yr old Shipoo. She is very fearful but sweet. During her exam she had bloody discharge and engorged mammary glands which has delayed her spay surgery.

Helen is a 4-5 yr old very sweet blind Aussie. She was treated for ear infections and scheduled for spay.

Mr. Beans, a 4-5 yr old male Boston Terrier was treated for ear infections at his exam and is being neutered 8/20. He is a happy boy, loves playing with toys and kids.

Surprisingly, all of the dogs tested negative for heartworm. Most of them are UTD now on rabies, DHPP and bordetella vaccines. They have all been microchipped as well.

That was a very expensive 10 days! We are about half way done with the vetting. We really appreciate all of you who have generously supported our rescue. Without your support, we would not have been able to take these sweet babies into rescue. YOU make this happen.

At this time none of these babies are ready for adoption. Vetting, socialization and love take a little bit of time before they can go h❤️me.

August 15th is National Check the Chip Day and International Homeless Animals’ Day!

Every dog adopted from Fawn’s is microchipped. Their microchip number is listed on your adoption contract and your vet can confirm their microchip number with a scanner at their regular appointment.

Keeping your microchip information updated is crucial! Collars and harnesses can break, or be removed. Microchips with up to date information increase lost pet reunification.

Our mission at Fawn’s is to help homeless, forgotten small dogs know a gentle touch and a safe and loving home. Thank you for helping us continue our mission!
