On Oct. 18, we said a sorrowful good-bye to Tina, our beloved clinic cat.

Though the farewell was difficult, the grief was eased by the joy she brought us over the past eight and a half years. Tina was loved by many and touched the hearts of staff, customers and visitors. She was truly a goodwill ambassador for our clinic.

Tina arrived at Alabama Spay Neuter in June 2017 on a “temporary” basis while we searched for her permanent home. We believed she was about 10
years old.

At first she was timid and often hid, and I wondered how we would ever find her a home.

After two or three months, she slowly became more comfortable. One night, as I fed her before heading home, she rubbed against my leg.

This was a groundbreaking moment.

Over the following months, she also opened up to others in the clinic. By then, it was clear Tina had found her permanent home at Alabama Spay Neuter.

As months turned into years, it was wonderful to watch her transform into the “Queen of the Clinic.”

The office we shared became hers—filled with toys, beds, a perch and much more.
She soon expanded her kingdom, waiting patiently for anyone to leave a warm chair so she could claim it.

Tina had a wonderful home here, and it was a true blessing to have her as part of our family.

My hope and prayer is that someday down the road, Tina and I will share a joyful reunion.

Sincerely,
Mark Nelson
Executive Director

🎃Halloween night is almost here!

Here’s some tips to keep your pets safe this spooky season👇

⭐ Keep Pets Secure Indoors
If you’ll be opening the door for trick-or-treaters, make sure your pets are safely inside + wearing proper identification or a microchip—just in case they slip out during the commotion.

⭐ Stash the Sweets
Chocolate + other candies can be toxic to pets. Keep all treats securely stored and out of paw’s reach.

⭐ Walk Before the Festivities Begin
If you have a dog, take them for a walk before the evening rush. This helps them avoid the noise, costumes + crowds that can cause stress.

⭐ Costume Comfort Comes First
Only dress your pet in a costume if they’re comfortable with it. Make sure it fits properly + doesn’t restrict breathing, movement or vision—or include small parts they could chew or swallow.

⭐ Decorate with Care
Curious pets might be tempted to explore your Halloween décor. Keep lit candles, glow sticks + small decorations out of reach to prevent burns, choking or ingestion

Have a safe Halloween, everyone! 🧡
