At this point we are using pictures of adoptable animals off the shelter's Petfinder page. Our hopes for the future are to be able to provide better pictures along with posting the pictures of new incoming strays as we

ll. Please understand that most animals are brought in as strays and there is no known history. It is best to bring your children to meet any potential adoption and required to bring currently owned dogs for a meet and greet with the dog you're looking to adopt. SHELTER LOCATION:

DIRECTIONS:
Exit #67 off the I-96 expressway. Go North on M66 for approximately 3 miles. Turn Right at the stop light onto David Highway (Right Way Carpet/Portland Credit Union will be on the corners.) Continue for a 1/2 mile, shelter is on the left or North side of road. There will be a road sign says Sparrow Dr and an Ionia County Animal Shelter sign which is blue. HOURS OF OPERATION:

•SATURDAY, SUNDAY AND MONDAY - Closed
•TUESDAY THROUGH FRIDAY - 11:00 a.m. To ensure ample time for proper adoption, no adoptions will be done after 5:15pm. We are closed for all National Holidays. ADOPTING A FRIEND:
PLEASE NOTE: They can only take cash, personal checks or money orders for any type of payment. Any animal that is surrendered by its owner and is adoptable will be available immediately once it has been updated on its vaccines including Rabies and has been spayed/neutered. All strays that come in will be held for 4 business days if it has no identification, and 7 days if it does (by state law) then will become available for adoption once it has been updated on its vaccines including Rabies and been spayed/neutered. An adoption application must be filled out and reviewed. Puppy Adoption: $160.00 All puppies will be current on age appropriate vaccines, wormed, microchipped and spayed/neutered prior to adoption. Dog Adoption: $160.00 All dogs will be current on age appropriate vaccines, heartworm tested, microchipped and spayed/neutered prior to adoption. Ionia County Residents will also purchase a 1 yr dog license for $10 which will be added to the adoption fee. Cat/Kitten Adoption: $60.00 All cats will be current on age appropriate vaccines, wormed, spayed/neutered and microchipped prior to adoption.

Yuri is a sweet, timid boy who wants a forever home. He was returned to us due to being possessive of the female party in the home. He has lived with dogs (Kita is his previous housemate). He is heartworm positive and is undergoing treatment. All treatment is covered by the Ionia County Animal Shelter. He is good with dogs, cats and older children (due to his timidness). He is potty trained and crate trained. He is fixed, vaccinated and up to date on all vaccines.

Mikey is a 2 year old Great Dane that is looking for a home.
She is a good girl that has lived with other dogs and kids. She is apparently “playful” with cats.
She’s potty trained and crate trained.

Unfortunately, she is heartworm positive and currently undergoing treatment… but don’t let that deter you, she’s a great lady!

Although he is a little aloof with people (males more than females), he absolutely LOVES other dogs. If he got a sibling or two he would be a happy camper. A shar-pei is not a breed for beginners. Have you been looking for a Beluga Whale? Dax may not be from the sea but he is the next best thing. He is a sweet boy who loves to goof around and play. Although he looks to be an older boy, he sure does have a lot of s***k. He is always happy to see other dogs and would also do well with kids. Kita has been here for way too long. She is a people pleaser and as sweet as can be. She is extremely hyper though. She is good with other dogs but cannot be house with small animals due to a high prey drive. She is great with kids but is a bit of a bull in a china shop and may knock littles over. She is currently undergoing heartworm treatment. All treatment is cover by the Ionia County Animal Shelter. She is fixed, vaccinated and microchipped.

Boyd needs your help! He is declining being in a kennel setting and is becoming more and more barrier reactive. He is sweet with people and is always ready to play. He does fine with dogs outside of his kennel. He is fixed, up to date on vaccines and microchipped. Please give this boy the home he deserves.
