We get so many questions about what life is like for our dogs while they're in our program, so we thought we'd answer a few of the most common ones!๐
๐ก๐๐ผ ๐๐ต๐ฒ ๐ฑ๐ผ๐ด๐ ๐น๐ถ๐๐ฒ ๐ถ๐ป ๐๐ต๐ฒ ๐ฝ๐ฟ๐ถ๐๐ผ๐ป?
Yes! Our dogs live inside the prison with their trainers. They have a dedicated crate room in their housing unit, and each dog has their own dedicated crate. The dogs go with their handlers during training sessions and the further advanced they get; they can begin to accompany their handler to various groups and classes. Dogs are not allowed in the dining area but do get some training around food.

Yes! Crate training is an important part of their program. Dogs sleep in their crates at night and are crated during certain times when their handlers are in schools or groups.
๐ฝ๐๐ฟ๐ฒ ๐๐ต๐ฒ๐ ๐ฝ๐ผ๐๐๐ ๐๐ฟ๐ฎ๐ถ๐ป๐ฒ๐ฑ?
Yes- but keep in mind that we provide an extremely structured scenario. Because we are in a prison, the dogs are leashed walked/potted beginning at 6:00 AM through 9:00PM. Because we can't just open a door when they tell us they need to go out. Instead, we ensure they get out on a regular basis to potty.

Our dogs receive basic and intermediate obedience training including:

Each dog is evaluated individually for playgroups. Some dogs participate in regular playgroups, while other work on being calm and neutral around other dogs. Every dog's training is based on their individual needs and personality.

Our goal is to prepare each dog for life outside of the program and help set them up for success in their forever home. Once adopted, their family gets to continue building on everything they've learned!
