IMPORTANT PSA: This time of year, turtles are crossing roads looking for food, mates, or the perfect place to lay their eggs. Please keep an eye out while driving!

If you spot a turtle in the road:

Make sure you’re safe first - pull over carefully.

Move the turtle in the direction it was going, never back the way it came.

Don’t pick it up by the tail as it can hurt them!

For snappers, use a car mat or gently hold the back of the shell just over the hind legs. Do not pick them up by the front or sides of the shell as they have long necks and can bite.

Never take a turtle with you - just help it safely across.

Let’s keep them safe this season. 💚

Just because it is small, spotted and ridiculously cute does not mean it needs your help.

Many young animals are left alone for long periods of time. Mom is probably eating nearby, wondering why you are being weird. Let her have a meal in peace and remember that picking up her baby can do more harm than good.

Your job:
✔️Admire from a distance
✔️Take a picture, not the critter
✔️Leave it alone

Help! Kerrville area please read🙏
The clinic refrigerator here at the rescue has gone out. We have frozen supplies, feeds and milk we’re trying to save from spoiling! If anyone around Kerrville has a used fridge to donate we’d be more than appreciative. We’ll also need help with transporting it to the rescue if anyone is able.

Schreiner University marketing class presented their projects yesterday. We were happy to attend and see what ideas the students came up with to promote local nonprofits. This group chose us to research and present.
